Over decades of working with actors, Tom has continued to develop this work, exploring what actors need to create behaviour that is truthful, specific, present and alive - and how those skills translate to the demands of acting today.

This is not about producing a polished showreel.

It’s a 6-week training course designed to help you understand how to deliver a compelling recorded performance consistently.

You’ll work on:
• Staying present and responsive while recording
• Developing truthful behaviour on screen
• Understanding how small adjustments translate on camera
• Building the internal technique that supports the external result
• Sightlines and focus
• Lighting and sound
• Understanding the demands of different shots - from close-up to long shot

And you’ll be working on camera throughout, allowing you to see what’s actually happening in your performance, adjust, refine and build confidence in your screen work.

Should Meisner feel traumatising?
This is a real question from an actor on Reddit. The answer, of course, is absolutely not.

As other actors responded to the question, they realised they were in a terrible class, and this was not Meisner as it was intended.

The Meisner technique is a powerful way to build presence and craft deeper, more truthful performances.

But only if it’s taught right.

Why is Tom Kibbe the right teacher?

He studied under Meisner for two and a half years, including two full years in Meisner’s private professional classes.

Tom teaches the technique in a way that’s both challenging and deeply supportive. It’s the kind of work that gently pushes you past what you thought was possible, and brings you to something more truthful.

I admit it. When I first tried Meisner I thought it was bu****it.

You’re wearing a green jumper. I’m wearing a green jumper.

WTF. This is meant to make me a better actor?

But that’s because I wasn’t working with Tom Kibbe.

Practicing the Meisner technique under Tom is a very different experience.

Tom studied with Meisner. He understands the technique. He understands how Meisner intended the technique to be taught.

He innately understands how to teach the quality of concentration required, and how to have you reach the level the specificity required. All through gentle coaching that seems to work almost by osmosis. When you take a Tom Kibbe class you just seem to soak up new acting ability.
