CSN Farm Stall
Our Horticulture students opened their farm stall this afternoon. Teachers were invited to come along to browse and shop their range of homegrown fruits, herbs, vegetables and flowers. They also took some time to explore the lovely garden and flower beds the students have cultivated this year. The boys had a really great harvest. Their produce included potatoes, garlic, onions, carrots, lettuce, coriander, mint, basil, parsley, spinach, rhubarb, pumpkin plants, strawberry plants, sunflowers, cosmos and nasturtiums. Well done boys. You can be very proud of all your hard work. What a great year! Thank you to the teachers for their support.

Yoga
All Transition Year students participated in a rotating Yoga module this year. It offered a space where students could slow down and explore life on the mat. They learned about the benefits of yoga and meditation and how they can support their physical, mental and emotional health. The class was a blend of mediation practices, physical poses and rest. Students practiced various techniques including breathing, mindful colouring, mindful walking, connecting with the senses, moving, stretching, balancing and relaxation. They learned about the nervous system and are now equipped with lots of tools and practices to help them move from 'fight or fllight' to 'rest and digest'. It is so heartening to witness these young men recognising the value in quietening the mind and connecting with body and breath. I could wax lyrical about the benefits of yoga but I thought it might be more appropriate for the boys to share some of their own thoughts and experiences.
‘I found it quite relaxing’
'It was a nice break from learning’
‘I really enjoyed it because it relaxed me during the school day’
‘Always looked forward to yoga. A relaxing part of a stressful week’
‘It was more engaging than sitting down and learning from a book’
‘ I liked learning new relaxing yoga poses’
‘It was very good and I really enjoyed it’
‘I enjoyed yoga and found it very beneficial ‘

Sixth Year Graduation 2026
The Graduation Ceremony for our Leaving Cert class of 2026 took place on Thursday afternoon. We were delighted to welcome parents, families, staff and guests: Br Simon, Mr Michael Sexton, P.B.S.T and Ms Brenda Moriarty, to this very special event.

Zac Wallace and Kieran Lane invited their fellow students to take their exam candles and walk in procession to the front of the hall as each student's name was called out. This was followed by a song which was composed by Daire Lyons for this occasion. Mr O'Tuama then thanked the students for their contribution to the 'spirit' of the school and wished them well as they embark on their new journeys assuring them that they are always welcome in Coláiste an Spioraid Naoimh.

Br Simon, Presentation Brother, led the next part of the Ceremony. Sam Hodgins shared a Reading from the Prophet Jeremiah which was followed by a thought- provoking response from Br Simon. Prayers of Intercession and Reflections were read by Dylan O'Callaghan, Ben Callanan, David O'Mahony, Eoin Flynn, Matthew O'Mahony, Ben Murray, Ciaran Lear and Ross Downing. Ciarán Mahon, Fionán Nagle and Liam Hayes captivated the audience as they played some magnificent pieces of music on piano and violin. Marcus Conroy spoke on behalf of the sixth year students and he thanked staff and parents for their support and encouragement all over the years.

Mr O'Tuama brought the ceremony to a close, and invited students, families and staff to watch a photographic display which took the class of 2026 on a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Graduates, families and staff enjoyed refreshments and took this opportunity to reminisce on the six years that this wonderful group of students spent in our school.

First Years Impress with Their 3D Science Models
Ms. Brosnan’s first year class were tasked with making a 3D model of something they learned about in science this year. The result was a collection of solar systems, circulatory system models, cells models, and particle theory representations that could only be described as works of art. Well done boys.

2nd year Geography
On Friday, N Michael and N Eoin visited Cork City to study urbanisation in the field. Using their knowledge from the classroom they encountered urban renewal in Bishop Lucey Park and urban redevelopment at the old Beamish and Crawford site.
They explored the bustling English Market and conducted a pedestrian count on both Oliver Plunkett St and Patrick Street.
After a busy morning they walked along the Quays comparing the old and derelict industrial buildings with the newer office blocks and apartments. The Marina Market was the final stop where the boys completed their booklets and refueled after all their hard work.
