Most parents view the actual danger posed to children as being an external one.

The sad reality is that while you watch TV, or are on your phone, may be in contact with your kids in a bathroom or bedroom in your own home.

Parents are so focused on potential that exists outside the , they miss the genuine danger under their own roof which goes unnoticed.

You can't give incredible gifts to some kids and not others.

There is a certain flavour of making kids dreams come through on this year's show.

But while all kids should be treated equally, some appear to be treated more equally than others.

Have not seen many toys, these seem to be irrelevant this year.

RTE news : Suspended 21 month sentence for man convicted of possession of child sexual abuse images

One has to wonder if the growing number of offenders appearing before Irish courts is instilling a form of judicial tolerance for this type of crime.

While the court stated the quantity of images were on the lower scale of what usually comes before the courts in general, the level of life long consequences of suffering and harm to those featured in the images was in no way diminished.

One might fear the desensitization of Irish courts whereby the focus is regarding a particular number of images, rather than plight of the children, who are the actual victims in the images, could be seen as a little unhelpful in the deterrence of potential future offenders.

Even worse for Irish society as a whole, is the lack of legislative enforcement of those convicted of this type of offence partaking in treatment programs which may prevent reoffending.

A man who was caught with close to 100 files of child abuse material has been given a suspended sentence.
