About the performance:
Thanks to Artist in the Community fund, Creativity and Change's group have been running Playback Theatre workshops with women in the Cork Migrant Centre, who are now joining us on stage. Together, we will listen to your stories about what it means to be a woman or gender minority in today’s world. In our workshops, we explored our own stories, which included not being valued because of our gender, and the incredibly ways we overcame these obstacles. Now we want to hold this space for your stories - to be present with the challenges you’ve faced because we believe stories can change how we see each other and ourselves. We hope you’ll join us, and help weave this tapestry as we celebrate International Women’s Day.

Announcing an exciting new collaboration with C&C and STAND, where we will be supporting imaginative 'What If...' explorations and creative action with participants on the Global Issues @ Cork course, beginning next week.

"What made the course truly valuable was the way it created a safe and supportive space for discussion. It didn’t just present global issues in theory, it encouraged us to connect them to our personal stories, identities, and emotions. This made the learning more real and transformative."

There’s just over a week left to bag your place on the six-week certified course. Beginning on the 18th February and running every Wednesday from 6 to 8pm, this course – a collaboration between .ie and - supports participants to make sense of and take action on the most pressing global issues.

Expecting a lecture on the following topics? Not a chance! These in-person workshops will be highly interactive, creative, discussion-based and focused on building a community of changemakers:

• What If… It’s Never Too Late? (The Environmental Crisis) with Irene Ní Shúilleabháin

• What If...We Redesigned How We Share the World’s Stuff? (Our Economic System) with Vicky Donnelly (/C&C)

• What If… We Could See the Hidden Empires Shaping Our Lives? (Decolonialism) with (C&C)

• What If… We Could Experience the World We’re Trying to Create? (SDGS) with David Nyaluke

• What If… We Build Better Futures Together? (Action and Radical Imagination with STAND and and Creativity & Change)

Thanks to the support of Irish Aid, the course is highly subsidised at €25. However, students from colleges in Cork can use the code STAND60 at checkout to avail of it for just €10.

It's always a pleasure to work with the .ie Youth Arts team at to introduce artivism and GCE on their Youth Arts Certificate course. The January weather didn't let us do the usual street art stuff, so we worked with mixed media to explore global citizenship and the SDGs. The group got in the flow and had good craic making giant awareness-raising posters. It was cool to see the different creative approaches they took and discuss ways to bring these processes in their own youth arts practice 💖

A highlight of our Creativity & Change course is when participants put their learning into action to create 'artivism toolkits' and facilitate one another in global citizenship education workshops.

This weekend saw rich critical explorations emerge through a feast of different creative approaches to global justice themes such as intersectionality, gender equality, hope in action for young activists, resisting the attention economy, peacemaking, fast fashion, political bodies, food systems and sovereignty for children through theatre, collage, games, music, poetry and more. Our participants are creative GCE geniuses, so watch out for offerings from them out in the real world.
