A few weeks can change the direction of your year.

Every course, we meet students who’ve been thinking about becoming a Personal Trainer for months… sometimes years.

There’s usually a reason they haven’t started yet.

Work is busy. The timing isn’t right. They’re not sure if they know enough. Or they tell themselves, “I’ll do the next one.”

But eventually, there has to be a first day.

For our next group, that day is 22nd September.

From there, it’s 17 weeks of hands-on practical learning, alongside theory completed online at your own pace….learning how to coach, programme, correct, adapt and work confidently with different people.

And if September feels a little too soon, it’s worth knowing that our November intake is already nearing full capacity.

After that, our next intake won’t be until February 2027.

There’s still time to join us this September.

And sometimes starting a little sooner than you planned is the best motivation.

You can learn the theory online at your own pace. But coaching? That takes practice 👏

Knowing what an exercise is and knowing how to coach it effectively are two very different things.

How do you explain the movement clearly?
What do you look for when someone performs it?
When do you correct them?
How do you adapt it for the person standing in front of you?

That’s where practical learning comes in.

Our students don’t just learn the theory behind personal training. They get 17 weeks of hands-on practical experience….coaching, observing, asking questions and building confidence in a real training environment.

Because when you qualify, your clients won’t be looking for someone who can simply pass an exam.

They’ll be looking for someone who can actually coach…safely, effectively and with the knowledge and practical experience to back it up.

And your qualification matters too.

Our Diploma in Personal Training + Nutrition is ITEC Qualifications and VTCT Skills accredited and repsireland endorsed, giving you a recognised qualification backed by real practical experience.

Our next course starts 22nd September.

If today didn’t bring the results or points you hoped for, don’t let one set of numbers convince you that your options are limited.

They’re not.

There is more than one route to a successful career, and sometimes the path you didn’t originally plan for turns out to be the one that suits you best.

What matters now is what you do next.

Take a little time, look at the options available to you, and think about the kind of work and life you actually want to build.

For anyone with a genuine interest in fitness, coaching, health and helping people, there are recognised education pathways that can lead to a real career in the industry.

We see people from all different backgrounds take that next step and develop the knowledge, practical skills and confidence needed to move forward.

So if today didn’t go to plan, keep perspective.

Your results are part of your story.

They are not the end of it.

And sometimes, a different route is exactly where things start to fall into place.

90% IS JUST SHOWING UP

You don’t need to feel 100% ready before you start.

You don’t need to know everything about training, nutrition or working in a gym. That’s exactly what the education, practical experience and support are there for.

The biggest step is simply deciding to start.

Our Gold Standard Diploma in Personal Training & Nutrition combines online theory with hands-on, practical learning, giving you the knowledge, confidence and recognised qualifications to move forward in the fitness industry.

Upcoming FEI course options:

22nd September
Tuesday | 11am–4pm

7th November
Saturday | 11am–4pm

15th February 2027
Evening option | Monday & Tuesday | 7pm–9:15pm

The practical element is delivered over 17 weeks, so you’re not just learning from a screen. You’re learning how to coach, developing real practical skills, completing recognised assessments and building the confidence to work with people properly.

Whether your goal is to start a new career, add to your existing qualifications or simply learn more for yourself, you do not need to have everything figured out before you begin.

Sometimes, 90% really is just showing up.

AISHLING

Tutor | Fitness Education Ireland

As a tutor at Fitness Education Ireland, Aishling strives to support students on their journey to becoming the best coaches they can be and to making a positive impact in the fitness industry.

askaishling has a degree in Nutritional Science from UCC and has worked as a Personal Trainer for the past six years, including time managing a gym.

During this time, she has worked with a wide variety of clients, from beginners and older adults to experienced lifters and those training towards performance goals such as HYROX, and half marathons. This experience has taught her the importance of adapting training to the individual in front of you, taking into account their needs, abilities, goals and what they enjoy. All of which she hopes to pass onto the students.

More recently, Aishling returned to UCC to complete a Master’s in Physiotherapy, which has further developed her understanding of human movement, exercise prescription and rehabilitation, while building on the practical experience she has gained from working with clients over the years.

Aishling completed her own Personal Training qualification with Alan in 2020, so she understands the learning journey from both sides. She knows how much there is to take in and how daunting it can feel at times, particularly when developing the confidence to coach and present in front of others. She aims to create a safe, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, sharing ideas and learning from each other.

Having been fortunate to learn from some amazing mentors throughout her own career, Aishling is excited and grateful for the opportunity to pass that knowledge and experience on to the next generation of trainers.

Seeing the students’ confidence grow and watching them develop their skills week on week is one of the most rewarding parts of her role.

Aishling hopes to give students the practical, communication and coaching skills they need to deliver safe, effective and enjoyable training, while showing them that Personal Training and coaching can be a successful, rewarding and long-term career.

This is what practical learning looks like at Fitness Education Ireland.

Our students don’t just learn how to coach from a screen or a manual, they actually get on the gym floor and do it.

This week, our students were completing their Gym Instruction practical assessments, taking the knowledge they’ve built throughout the course and putting it into practice with a client.

The practical assessment process builds over three stages:

👉 Week 7 – First pre-assessment workout
👉 Week 8 – Second pre-assessment workout
👉 Week 9 – Final Gym Instruction practical exam

At each stage, students prepare their own workout programme and then coach a client through it in the gym.

That means demonstrating exercises correctly, giving clear instruction, observing technique, making corrections, selecting appropriate exercises and showing that they can coach safely and effectively.

The first two assessments give students the chance to practise, receive tutor feedback and improve before completing their final Gym Instruction exam in Week 9.

This hands-on coaching experience is a major part of our 17-week Diploma in Personal Training & Nutrition.

Because when you qualify, we don’t just want you to have a certificate.

We want you to have the confidence, practical experience and coaching skills to actually work with people.

If you can see yourself doing this, our September and November intakes are now enrolling.

Drop us a message or WhatsApp Alan on 086 352 1036 for course details.
