๐ŸŽผ Points Cannot Measure Talent
For Kacper Mosur, the journey to studying music did not begin with Leaving Certificate points. It began with talent, years of practice and demanding auditions.
Following his audition last spring, Kacper was pre-selected for the Bachelor of Music programme at the Cork School of Music.
We congratulate Kacper on his wonderful achievement of admission to this prestigious programme and wish him every success as he develops the exceptional musical gifts he has worked so hard to cultivate.
We also warmly thank our music teachers, Bean Uรญ Bhuachalla and Mr Oโ€™Rourke, whose dedication, encouragement and high standards have supported our students throughout their musical studies.
Congratulations, Kacper! Let the music continue! ๐ŸŽถ

โš–๏ธ From the Socratic Seminar to the Study of Law
Discussion, questioning and debate have always been at the heart of a Mater Dei Academy education โ€” and Philip embraced every opportunity.
From classroom Socratic seminars to representing and leading the school debating team in the Philosophical Society debates, Philip demonstrated a natural ability to think deeply, question assumptions, construct arguments and engage seriously with ideas.
Those skills will now accompany him into a new chapter as he begins the study of Law at UCC following an outstanding Leaving Certificate result.
Congratulations, Philip. We wish you every blessing in your studies and pray that the Holy Spirit will guide you always in the pursuit of truth and justice.
St Thomas More, patron saint of lawyers, pray for him. ๐Ÿ™

๐ŸŒพ From the Classical Classroom to the Land
A classical education does not prepare a student for just one path. It prepares the mind for wherever that path may lead.
An accomplished musician, Joseph now takes the critical-thinking, problem-solving and practical skills developed during his years at Mater Dei Academy from the classroom to the land.
We are delighted that he will begin his agricultural studies at Clonakilty Agricultural College in beautiful West Cork.
Agriculture demands knowledge, judgement, resilience and a profound respect for the land and for the work entrusted to us. We have no doubt that Joseph will bring these qualities to his studies and future work.
Congratulations, Joseph, on this wonderful achievement! ๐Ÿšœ๐ŸŒฑ
May God bless your studies and the work of your hands.

๐ŸŒŸ Excellence Across the Curriculum
Mater Dei Academy students achieved H1 grades across seven different subjects in this yearโ€™s Leaving Certificate โ€” a remarkable breadth of academic achievement for a small school.
Among these were H1s in Mathematics (achieved by just 8.1% of students nationally), Art (achieved by 11% nationally) and Music (achieved by 12% nationally) โ€” subjects demanding very different combinations of analytical ability, creativity, discipline and practical skill.
For students in a small school to excel across such a broad range of disciplines speaks powerfully to the foundations of a classical education: learning to think deeply, reason carefully, communicate clearly and pursue excellence in every field.
We congratulate our students and the teachers who have accompanied them throughout their studies.

๐ŸŽ“ A Historic Week for Mater Dei Academy
This week marks a historic moment for Mater Dei Academy as we celebrate the achievements of our first Leaving Certificate students.
Points can never measure a young personโ€™s character, intellectual curiosity or capacity to serve others. But they do reflect something of the hard work, perseverance and dedication of students and teachers over the past six years.
We are immensely proud that almost half of our students achieved more than 500 points in this yearโ€™s Leaving Certificate (compared to less than 22% of students nationally) โ€” an extraordinary achievement for our students and our young school.
These results are a testament to the value of small class sizes, high academic expectations and a dedicated faculty, led by Ms Oโ€™Brien.
Most of all, we congratulate our students. Their commitment, determination and enthusiasm for learning have brought them to this important milestone.
Comhghairdeas libh go lรฉir!

๐Ÿ™ A Special Moment of Faith and Service ๐Ÿ™

Incoming first-year Mater Dei Academy student Luke was part of the altar serving team at the Cathedral of Saint Mary and Saint Anne during the recent visit of the relics of Saint Carlo Acutis. The relics were available for veneration last weekend ahead of the 100th Eucharistic Procession, which will take place next Sunday, 7 June, beginning at 2.30pm.

The visit provided a wonderful opportunity for prayer and reflection as the diocese prepares to celebrate this significant milestone.

Congratulations to Luke and all of the Cathedral Altar Service team on their dedicated service during this special time. We look forward to welcoming Luke and his classmates to our school community in the coming academic year.

๐Ÿ“š Leaving Certificate Begins! ๐Ÿ“š

Today, our nine Sixth Year students begin their Leaving Certificate exams. This marks a significant milestone in our school's history as our very first Leaving Certificate class. ๐ŸŽ‰

We keep them in our prayers and wish them every success in the weeks ahead. ๐Ÿ™โœจ

This beautiful medley of Abide With Me and Deus Meus, arranged by Ms. Buckley and performed by our Leaving Certificate Music students, was recorded shortly before their Music Practical Examination in April.

May the Holy Spirit guide and inspire you all.

๐ŸŽ“โœจ6th Year Graduation!๐ŸŽ“โœจ

Earlier this month, we celebrated our wonderful graduating 6th Year students as they prepared to begin an exciting new chapter.

A heartfelt thank you to our Principal, Ms Oโ€™Brien, for her inspiring words and continued support of our students throughout their journey in our school community.

We were also delighted to hear a beautiful speech from Annie Feeney, who spoke so thoughtfully on behalf of the graduating class, reflecting on the memories, friendships, challenges and achievements shared over the years.

We are incredibly proud of each and every one of our 6th Year students and wish them every success and happiness in the future. May they always look back on their time here with fond memories.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026! ๐ŸŒŸ
