Rationale for the footpath:
The route between the village and Dromgarrif lane accommodates 60 households with approximately 240 residents.
This road is a very busy road linking Mallow and Cork city.
1. To reinstate the footpath that existed previously.
2. Provide safe walking route for residents. There has been a large increase in traffic volume on this road and it is no longer safe for residents to use it to access the village, school and community center etc.
3. Provide safe walking access to parents and children attending The Children's House Montessori school. Walking to the school now is a safety concern to those who would walk if a safe path existed.
4. Developing Sli na Slainte route. Provide safe access to the very popular Sli Geal Health walk. With the footpath in place it would create a 7km route for residents. Map of the route can be seen in previous post.
5. Reduce traffic for local trips. With a safe foothpath in place people would be more inclined to leave the car at home for local trips.
