“Leaf Man goes wherever the wind blows” 🌬 🍂

On Friday each preschool child was given an Autumn treasure bag to bring home for the weekend. This encouraged them to explore natural spaces over the weekend with their families. They collected some interesting Autumn things to bring in and show their friends.

Of course after reading Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert last week; they couldn’t wait to use their Autumn treasures to create a leaf man of their own 🍁 (don’t they look fabulous!!🤩)

We were so excited to be able to get families involved in this activity and have loved seeing all of the photos of the adventures you got up to over the weekend 📸

All set up for dinosaur week of summer camp kicking off tomorrow🦕😄

✏️This activity aims to develop childrens fine motor abilities by encouraging them to cut the strings in order to free the dinosaurs
✏️It also strengthens social development as children can engage co-operatively or work alongside each other

Incoming Heatwave 🥵☀️

As you are probably already aware, MET Eireann have issued weather warnings for extremely hot conditions next week with the possibility of temperatures reaching between 25-27 Degrees Celsius on Monday and Tuesday for the South East Region.

We at Barley Hill want to reassure you that we will be open as usual and steps will be taken to ensure that children are kept as cool and as comfortable as possible.

Please dress your child in light coloured, loose clothing and ensure that they have a suitable sun hat and high factor suncream packed with them.

Steps that will be taken at Barley Hill:
- Keeping children indoors during peak hours with ventilated rooms and use of fans (out of reach from children of course)
- Suncream and hats outdoors
- We have created a number of shaded spaces in the outdoor play areas (parasols and gazebos)
- Lots of water play
- Fruit Ice Lollies available
- And MOST importantly lots of drinking water to ensure children remain hydrated

Children’s well-being is our utmost priority. We will closely monitor the children in our care and will take necessary steps to ensure they are safe and well (whilst still having some fun) during this heatwave ☀️
