Wicklow Fleadh

Wicklow Fleadh What strikes first-time Fleadh-goers most often is the incredible music being played by the young competitors.

The Wicklow Fleadh takes place every year in April or May and it is the annual opportunity for traditional musicians, singers, dancers and speakers to showcase their talents. Each year, over 300 competitors vie for a coveted place in the Leinster Fleadh and from there onto Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann which takes place in August annually. There are 49 different competition categories in the Fleadh, w

ith multiple age groups within each catetory, most commonly Under 12, 12 to 15, 15 to 18 and Over 18 years of age. Competition is tough and only two competitors in each competition progress to the Leinster Fleadh, with an option third qualifier at the adjudicator's discretion. Wicklow County Fleadh will take place on Saturday 7th May 2022 in Dominican College, Wicklow Town, Co Wicklow and competitions will run from 10am through to 5pm. So, whether your interest is in the fiddle, uilleann pipes, bodhrán, groups, céilí bands, duets, trios, singing, or any of the other numerous competitions, you're sure of an entertaining day at the Fleadh. Bígí linn ag an 7 Bealtaine agus beidh an-craic againn! You can email the Wicklow CCÉ Secretary at [email protected] for information.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to every one that helped out with the Fleadh in honor of our dear friend Mary. The event was a resounding success and truly a fitting tribute to her memory.

From the car park stewards to the adjudicators, and everyone in between, your dedication and hard work made the event a tremendous success.

To the car park stewards and door stewards, thank you for ensuring smooth traffic flow and uninterrupted competitions.

A special thank you to the call clerks and adjudicators for your meticulous attention to detail and dedication to fair judging. Your expertise and professionalism added an extra layer of excellence to the event.

To the Fleadh office volunteers and county board members, your behind-the-scenes work did not go unnoticed. Your organizational skills and tireless efforts were crucial in bringing everything together seamlessly.

A heartfelt thank you to Tinahely National School and the Community Hall for graciously hosting the event. Your support provided the perfect backdrop for our celebration.

I would also like to extend my appreciation to Iwona, the schools cleaner, and her husband for their invaluable assistance.

To Angela and all her staff from D’lish for keeping us all fed with delicious food, thank you.

I also want to thank all the Wicklow branches and their teachers, without yous the fleadh just wouldn’t be possible.

Lastly, a big thank you to all who stayed back and helped with the cleanup after the Fleadh. Your hard work and dedication didn't go unnoticed.

Let's give ourselves a round of applause for a job well done!

The weather was indeed on our side, but it was your hard work, passion, and commitment that truly made the Fleadh a resounding success.

Thank you once again for your hard work, dedication, and unwavering support.
