Next up, we’re delighted to introduce another fantastic tutor joining the John Dwyer Trad Weekend – Liz Hand!

Liz is one of Ireland’s most respected set dancing tutors and callers. Originally from Carlow, she has spent many years teaching dancers of all ages and abilities at set dancing events across the country. Renowned for her warm, patient teaching style, Liz has a wonderful ability to make beginners feel at ease while helping more experienced dancers build confidence and improve their technique.

Whether you’re completely new to set dancing or looking to brush up on the basics, this workshop is the perfect opportunity to learn from one of the very best.

We're delighted to welcome one of Ireland's leading traditional composers, Josephine Marsh, for a unique Advanced Composition Workshop as part of the John Dwyer Trad Weekend

Josephine Marsh is an accomplished accordion player and renowned composer from Co. Clare. Her collection of original tunes has become a valued part of the Irish traditional music repertoire, making this a fantastic opportunity to learn directly from one of the country's most respected composers.

This advanced workshop is designed for experienced musicians who want to develop their skills in composing traditional Irish music and gain insight into Josephine's creative process.

🌟🌟Meet Our Tutors🌟🌟

We’re delighted to welcome Edel Fox and Neil Byrne to this year’s John Dwyer Trad Weekend, where they will lead our Advanced Workshop.

Edel Fox, a renowned concertina player from Co. Clare, has enjoyed an outstanding career as a performer, recording artist, film and documentary producer. Alongside Waterford fiddler Neil Byrne, she shared a close musical friendship with the late John Dwyer, performing extensively with him over many years.

Having featured on John’s album The Dursey Sound, Edel and Neil bring an unrivalled knowledge of his music, style and repertoire. This workshop offers a unique opportunity to learn John Dwyer’s tunes from two musicians who knew and played alongside him, making it a fitting tribute to one of Ireland’s great traditional musicians.

Please note: This is an advanced workshop, best suited to experienced musicians who are confident learning by ear and already have a strong repertoire of traditional tunes.

🌟🌟Meet Our Tutors🌟🌟

We’re delighted to welcome our good friend Jill Devlin back to Trad House New Ross as our harp tutor for the John Dwyer Trad Weekend.

Based in Tramore, Co. Waterford, Jill is an award-winning traditional Irish harpist, performer and educator who is passionate about sharing the rich tradition of Irish harp music.

Jill released her debut solo album, Tales From the Harp, in 2024, showcasing her beautiful interpretations of traditional Irish music. She has performed at renowned festivals including Electric Picnic, Milwaukee Irish Fest (USA), Temple Bar TradFest, Cruit Éireann | Harp Ireland’s Cairde na Cruite Festival, and the William Kennedy Piping Festival, as well as at concerts throughout Ireland, Italy, Spain, Scotland and the United States. She has performed for King Charles III and Queen Camilla, Prince Albert II of Monaco, Paul Brady and Michael Flatley.

As harp tutor with Music Generation Waterford and Waterford City Comhaltas, Jill inspires the next generation of traditional musicians through her teaching, performing and directing youth harp ensembles.
