Summer solstice fire ceremony including the death of the Celtic Shaman reenactment and sound bath.The Irish School of Shamanic Studies is delighted to announce our Summer solstice fire ceremony taking place on Saturday the 20th June at the ancient Moher Oakwood, Westport, Co Mayo. A wonderful evening celebrating the wheel of the year. Lets use this ancient tradition to connect with the Sun at its most powerful time of the year to enhance our inner strengths, protection, manifestations and giving thanks. Drumming, Song, dance, poetry & Shamanic journeying. The reenactment of the death of the Celtic Shaman is based on the Shamans Soul leaving its body and travelling to the otherworld. As the Soul leaves, the Shamans body dies until the Soul returns and the Shaman comes back to life, showing the Shanan is in a constant state of death, birth and rebirth. The ceremony begins @7.30pm. DUE TO A LAST MINUTE CANCELLATION. ONE PLACE IS AVAILABLE FOR OUR UPCOMING SHAMANIC PRACTITIONER COURSE STARTING THIS COMING SATURDAY.

Why choose us to train in Shamanism? At the Irish School of Shamanic Studies Linenhall street, Castlebar, Co Mayo, we offer a comprehensive training in Shamanic practices. Our next 12 month Shamanic practitioner training program begins on Saturday 20th June 2026. Here are a few key points about our unique Shamanic offering.

1. NO ONLINE. We offer In-house, in person training. We teach in the physical realm, in-person. No online courses (digital realm) to be done to join our training groups. It's raw, in-person training. Online is simply not good enough for Shamanic training.

2. Irish teachers both male and female teaching core Shamanism with Irish ancient Spiritual content.

3. A detailed 12 month program on all aspects of Shamanism including 35 ancient sacred site visits over the 12 months to get a deeper understanding of our Spiritual landscape and our ancient Irish sacred sites. This is an integral part of our Shamanic teachings. Lets learn our indigenous Irish Shamanic connection before looking further afield. Its in built in our DNA. Authentic indigenous teachings

4. 25 full days training, no shotgun Shamanism with us where some trainings will certify in as little as 12 days. Not adequate

5. Along with a custom 3 classroom training centre, we also teach from our 14 acre oak forest in Westport, Co Mayo at the foothills of Cruchan Aigle- Eagle mountain also known as croagh Patrick.

6. We teach history, folklore, Mythology and archaeology content in our program and we are the only Shamanic school to do so.

8. Manuals written by us are presented at every training weekend with 250, 000 words in our 14 manuals.
9. A full support system for current students and past students through our close knit online forum system and in person.

10. We are accredited through IPHM - the international practitioners of Holistic medicine.

11. Our groups are small and intimate for our students to receive the most from our teaching, and allow groups to bond. No 40 or 50
people in groups with us. We keep it small and personal.

12. Healing through Sound and vibration. Using sound to heal is an essential part of our training. Learning to use drums, rattles, singing bowls etc..

13. Dowsing ancient sites. Divination tools and mehods in an integral part of our course.

14. Over 200 hours of in person training.

15. We offer post graduate training for our students who have completed the twelve month training. We offer a 6 month Shamanic counselling course and a 6 month Shamanic celebrant training. Students can choose to train with us for up to 2 years if they choose to.

A very proud moment for me when i see such a fantastic group of people graduating from our six month Shamanic counselling course with the Irish School of Shamanic Studies. The final module of this course is called "Healing in ths natural world" which is all about working in nature to heal. We travelled from east Mayo to West Mayo over the past two days to connect with some of our powerful ancient sites. Kilmovee and Aghagower. We worked with whitethorn medicine to heal the heart. A full on weekend. Our Shamanic counselling course is post graduate training for those who have completed our 12 month Shamanic practitioner course. A big congrats to Dermot, Anna and Richie who have actually completed 2 years training with us with all the rest completing 18 months so far. To say im proud of these people is an understatement. NO short 12 week courses and then certified as a Shamanic practitioner (Not adequate) Shamanism requires a much deeper training.
NO long gaps between training weekends.

The Irish School of Shamanic Studies differs greatly from the above.
YES Our teachings are spearheaded by our indeginous Irish Shamanic practices.
YES 40% Of our training is done outdoors at the ancient sites, 38 to be visited in our training program including our private 14 acre indeginous Oak forest in Westport, Co Mayo.
YES Our Shamanic practitioner training program runs over 12 months (25 days) in person training.
YES Our training takes place on the rugged west coast of Ireland where tradition and native language remains the strongest.

When choosing a Shamanic course on these lands we call Ireland, our belief is that that is where we should choose a course that honours our ancient roots. People make the mistake that all Shamanic courses are the same. This could'nt be further from the truth. Our places, our traditions our ancient history and spirituality is unique and is embedded in our very DNA. We honour this and teach this as a priority. People sometimes have a mindset that the fields far away are greener. This is actually a trauma mindset of old still held by some people. The truth is they could not be any greener here in Ireland.
