Today the Junior and Senior Monty’s had a teddy bear picnic 🧸🧺 Each child brought in the favourite teddy from home to show all their friends. We learned their names, colour and what each child likes to do with their teddy bear. The children and the teddies all enjoyed some nice yummy treats at our picnic 😁

To the class of 2026.
What a wonderful day of celebrations in the summer sun. We are so proud of each and everyone of you for doing so well and singing your little hearts out for your Mommy’s and Daddy’s.
May your next adventure into primary school be as magnificent as your journey through Stepping Stones.
You have made wonderful friends and have lots of memories to take with on your next steps.

Now we are in the month of June there is great excitement for our up coming graduates in Senior Montessori 🎓 We are spending lots of time doing creative art getting our classroom ready for the parents to visit. In between the showers we spent lots of time in the garden and have been singing all our songs for our ceremony.

Today we had a lovely visit from Clonmel library, Ann came to have story time with us. We had 2 stories, The Knight with no bottom and the tiger who came to tea. It was no surprise that the book about bottoms got lots of giggles and was voted the children’s favourite book.
Ann showed all the boys and girls who are going to big school that if they call into the library with their Mummy’s and Daddy’s they can collect a free bag called the little library bag that has 2 books for the children to keep.
We gave Ann all our registration forms so we can become members of the library and she is going to let our teachers know when they are all ready. Ann also told us that our local library does storytime for all children every Friday at 4pm.

What a busy week our Junior Montessori class had learning all about insects 🐛🦋🐞

We discovered where insects live, what they eat, and all the creepy-crawly things they get up to! The children loved chatting about hungry caterpillars munching their way through LOTS of food 🍎🍐🍓🍰

In art, we made our very own caterpillars using balloons 🎈 and stuck loads of tasty foods onto our pages for the caterpillars to “eat” — some of them were VERY greedy caterpillars indeed 😂

This morning we wrapped up our insect adventure with a nature hunt outside to look for mini beasts in their natural homes. There were lots of excited squeals, careful searching, and a few dramatic reactions to wiggly visitors 🪲👀

We think the insects enjoyed having so many new tiny friends investigating them this week! 💚

✨Toddler fun✨
This week in toddlers we learned all about “under the sea” 🐠🐡 we learned all about the different sea creatures and how big and small they are. We also focused on learning some of our primary colours and body parts during circle time 🖍️ for art we did some hand painting and sponge painting and based our tuff trays around our them of the week 🤩 we progressed on our gross motor skills out in the garden between the rain showers and focused on our fine motor skills using peg boards, puzzles and our pincer grasps ❤️

We had some very special visitors from our community today, Garda Fiona and Garda Marie came to talk to us about being safe. We discussed being safe in our cars by sitting in our car seats and wearing a seatbelt. Garda Fiona also told us that we have to remind our Mummy’s and Daddy’s to wear their seatbelts and not to use their phone while driving. (Some children where quick to tell tales on their Mummy’s and Daddy’s 🤫)
We sang one of our graduation songs for our visitors and Garda Fiona and a Garda Marie reminded us that we always have a friend in them.
We went outside and sat in the Garda car and got to start the sirens.
We got a lovely present of a Garda medal and a colouring book to bring home to show our families.

We had a great first week back after the Easter holidays down in Senior Monty’s. The children were so happy to be back and see all their friends again. We done Montessori work, learned all about insects 🐝🐞🐜, created butterfly sun catchers, under the sea stickers for our classroom windows🐠, created butterfly masks, chose what insect was our favourite for art and done some colour by number insects 🦋🐛 Great fun was had by all the children 😊

A huge congratulations to our staff member Rebecca and her partner Louis on winning Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday. All their hard practice really paid off throughout the weekend. 💃🕺
