Currently we are providing training for 240 students between all of our courses. There is a balance of both school leavers and mature participants among the students. Students are trained in the theory and practice of Agriculture and business and get an opportunity to work in a practical way on farms as part of their training. Graduates of our courses not only return to farm the land but also contribute in many sectors of the Agricultural industry, including Co-Ops, trade suppliers, Agricultural businesses.

This week our Advanced dairy students went to see the farm of Lawrence Sexton. They gained valuable knowledge from Lawrence on reseeding, grass establishment, breeding, infrastructure and his rotary parlour. Thanks again to Lawrence for his time and for sharing his experience.

Yesterday, our Advanced Dairy Students had the opportunity to visit the farm of John Hallissey in Kilbrittain, where they gained valuable insights into his comprehensive heifer rearing and breeding program. The students received in-depth information on various aspects, including vaccinations, heat detection, reseeding, grazing, and target setting. We extend our gratitude to John for sharing his expertise and time. Accompanied by college lecturers Anna Hourihane, Miriam Dineen & Jonathon Kenneally.

Great day experienced at the Shinagh Farm open day yesterday. As part of the day the college had a stand on the Apprenticeship/ farm technician programs. Seen here on the stand are Cllr. John Michael Foley, Rebecca Bailey and Orla Neville Teagasc - Clonakilty Agricultural college , Minister Martin Heydon, Minister for Agriculture and Senator Noel O'Donovan.
