🌈💛 Our Theme of the Week – Feelings & Emotions! 💛🌈
This week our theme has been all about feelings and emotions, helping the children to understand, recognise and talk about how they are feeling. 🥰💭
Earlier in the week, we read the lovely story The Colour Monster 📚 and explored how different colours can represent different feelings. We talked about feeling happy, sad, angry, calm, worried and confused, and discussed that all feelings are okay and that it is important to have someone we can talk to about them. ❤️
We have also created our very own Feelings Board, with photos of all our children! 📸🌈 Each day the children can choose the feeling that represents how they are feeling and talk about why. It has been a lovely way to encourage children to recognise and express their emotions and to see that our feelings can change throughout the day. 💕
We have been enjoying lots of stories, discussions, games, creative activities and hands-on experiences throughout the week, all centred around understanding ourselves and our emotions. 🎨📚🫶
Our Colour Monster activity was a particular favourite! 🫙🌈 The children created their own feeling jars, choosing colours to represent their emotions. Some children made beautiful rainbow jars 🌈 — not because they were feeling confused, but simply because they LOVE rainbows! 💕 And we thought that was a perfect choice!
Through all of these activities, we are helping the children to develop their emotional awareness, communication skills, confidence, empathy and ability to express themselves in a safe and supportive environment. 🌟
We absolutely love giving our children the opportunity to talk about their feelings and helping them understand that every feeling matters, every child is unique, and it’s always okay to talk about how we feel. ❤️🌈
