Hi guys. As most of you know by now, the Naíonra and Afterschool will not Re open in September.

Sadly, the council have put permanent bollards directly outside the Creche and without a drop down area, in this COVID time, I can not reopen. I have tried to appeal to the council but with no joy.

Added to this, we have been closed since March 12th and the cost of reopening both the Creche and the Music School is just too much and would have put both businesses at risk.

I would like to thank you all for your support over the last few years, especially the hard working staff of the Creche.

The music school WILL be open in September and I am hopeful that a set down area and disability parking space will at least be provided for that, although as I said, so far no joy.

Please support the Music School when we open in September...as you can imagine, we will be 6 months out of business so will need all the support we can get.
Is mise le meas,
Susie.

Irish in the preschool setting at Naionra Ceol Na N’Og 🥰🎶

How many of us HATED Irish in school? A collective groan would spread around my classroom when I was younger. Yet, I always wished I was better at Irish and envied those who could speak it with ease. When it came to my own children, I sent them to a Gaelscoil and found a new love for the language. I learnt along with them!

Our preschool provides the first tentative steps towards embracing the Irish language. We are not a full immersion Irish preschool because the children of Charleville and the surrounding areas do not yet have a Gaelscoil to move along to and transitioning would be a little difficult for our little ones.

But, we provide an education that allows the students to gradually learn the language through music, art, games and activities. And, the parents learn, or re learn right along with them due to our collaborative approach to Irish.

It is a wonderful preparation for the children who will go on to spend 12 years learning the language. So many of us feel apprehensive about our child learning Irish, memories of Irish poetry and Novels crowd our brain.

We make it fun again and give the children confidence in the language so they will be ahead of the game when primary school starts. It’s nice to be best at something in school and our primary school starters are proud to show off the language. So many teachers have reported a wonderful confidence in the children who start school with a grasp of the Irish language.

And, what about foreign national students? It is incredible to see the speed at which these children and their parents learn to speak English. Should we really put another language in the mix for them? The answer is yes!!

Charleville is a wonderfully multicultural and multinational town. It amazes me how quickly our newest neighbours embrace the Irish culture and share their own culture with us. When these children start primary school they will have to learn Irish alongside their new friends. The ease at which they pick up the English and Irish is astounding! And their parents love it!!

Nothing makes us smile more than getting an Irish greeting in the mornings from a Brazilian mom or a Polish Dad!

In our preschool, we teach the children about all nationalities and try to share some of the wonderful language and culture that our students bring with them.

So, why send your child to our Preschool...why not? Give them the very best chance to achieve in life and a sturdy leg up at the start of their educational journey!! Who knows, you, like me,may discover a new grá for Irish!

Dear parents of Ireland 💚

Today marks NINE full weeks since the announcement all schools would close.

You have had your children home for more time now that you would if they were on summer holidays. People will say ‘but they are your responsibility’ and while that is true no-one could be expected to have imagined this period before they chose to conceive.

You have protected, nourished, educated, supported and entertained your children during a period of national and international uncertainty and fear. You have experienced emotions for yourself and your family that you never knew existed, never mind experienced before.

Nine weeks is a long time.

Think about how you feel at the end of the summer holidays, how ready you are for routine, how badly your house needs cleaning, how much work you are ready to catch up on. Remember that exhausting feeling of having so little sleep, much less money and hearing ‘mammy/daddy’ every time you happen to sit down.

And you wonder why you are exhausted?

You are amazing! You have achieved something no other parent ever has! You have faced by nine weeks unable to take your child or children anywhere, nine weeks of no parks, holidays to break up the boredom, no day trips, no family to help. On top of that you have juggled work demands, loneliness on a level never experienced before, information overload from the internet and emotional turmoil of not being able to see people you hold dear. Even getting food to eat has been a major drama!

So it’s ok to feel drained. It’s ok to feel like you would sell your soul right now for five minutes alone. It’s ok to feel uninspired about another day of homeschooling, another day of never ending laundry and cooking.

It’s ok to be so very tired.

Nine weeks is a long time.

But you have made it.

Be proud of yourself. Stand tall.

History will show you for your courage, your children will remember this period as a time knowing they were safe and loved and teachers everywhere are deeply grateful that you are there for your children when they should be but can’t be.

In short: you are awesome!

And so are your children. 💕

❤🧡💛💚💙💜 Copy and paste for those who may need to hear it too ❤🧡💛💚💙💜

Please share 😊🎶Free ECCE places.
Bookings now been taken for Naíonra Ceol Na N’og preschool in September. Our preschool incorporates music and the Irish language in a fun and imaginative way! This year our preschoolers will also be able to do performing arts and Taekwondo!!

Like the rest of the country we are optimistically preparing for the safe reopening in the September term.

It will be a new world for us all and social distancing will be the new norm. Tough for our little ones, but we will do our very best to make sure that the new rules don’t take too much from their fun and education 😊

In all preschool and afterschool facilities, numbers will be very limited because of social distancing.

Fortunately, for us, we have a huge building with plenty of open plan, well ventilated rooms, safe outdoor spaces and a large indoor hall.

So, don’t delay and book your place today as there will be very limited preschool spots all around for September. Call Susie on 0879873379 or our manager Madeleine on 085 145 4656.
