WOW! The Pride Lands officially came to Scoil Na Mainistreach this week, and we are still buzzing from the magic!
Over the last two nights, our incredibly talented pupils from 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and Droichead classes took to the stage to perform The Lion King Jnr. To say they broke a leg would be an understatement, they blew us all away!
There were many highlights of this wonderful show. It was a complete musical and visual spectacle. The talent on display was truly inspiring. For many of our students, this was their very first time ever stepping into the spotlight, whether they were finding their voice in the Circle of Life, mastering the comedic timing of Timon and Pumbaa, or performing choreography for the first time. The bravery it took to audition first of all and then perform in front of such a large crowd was just as impressive as the show itself.
A production of this scale did not happen without a pride, and we have some pride here in Scoil Na Mainistreach. From the directors, the musicians, choreography, costumes, stage, set, programme design and layout, photography, ticket sales and raffle on the night and more this was a massive team effort. A huge well done to all staff and pupils who spent hours during and after school in their own time helping to pull it all together.
The show sold out on both nights. Nearly 800 people got to see the show. To all the M**s, Dads, brothers and sisters, grannies and Grandads, we thank everyone for turning up to cheer on their fantastic children.
We are fortunate and very grateful to have many sponsors who supported us financially with the staging of this musical. All are listed in our musical programme and we would encourage everyone to support these businesses where possible.
The boys and girls have created many memories for themselves, their families and the whole school community. We know that this will not be the last time we see some of these fantastic children on stage!
Hakuna Matata!
p.s. we have many many more photographs of the show taken by Mr Marken in an album. We will posts a link to these photos tomorrow. Anyone who wishes to access a specific picture to print we will have details and Mr Marken will send these wonderful mementos to you.

Our third classes got a very special invite this week to go and see the Celbridge Community School’s production of Shrek, the musical. We had a fantastic time during the musical and were entertained from start to finish. The sun shone for us, and we were able to have a picnic in the beautiful grounds of St Patrick’s College Maynooth. Many congratulations to CCS and especially to some of our past pupils who are part of this super show!
