Salesian College Celbridge

Salesian College Celbridge "We care, develop, believe - together we achieve" Salesian College follows a very strong Ethos. St.

Salesian College, Celbridge, is an all-boys Catholic Secondary School under the Trusteeship of the Salesians of Don Bosco. John Bosco, the founder of the Salesian order, who lived in Italy during the 19th century, developed a particular approach to education, which he called the Preventive System. The Preventive System, ("preventive" coming from the Latin words prea and ve**re; meaning go before,

or to anticipate the needs of another) takes as its aim the formation of honest citizens and good Christians. In this approach, reason, religion and kindness are core values. Reasonableness and fairness guide the student and teacher as they work together to build and environment that encourages personal responsibility and promotes learning. John Bosco emphasised the quality of the relationship between students and educator. He encouraged an attitude of loving-kindness where a relationship of trust, openness and understanding could develop between the educator and the student both inside and outside the classroom.

๐ŸŽจ A very special day for Salesian College at the 72nd Childrenโ€™s Texaco Art Awards, held in the beautiful Druids Glen Hotel last May.

A huge congratulations to Aran Mc Cumiskey; 3rd year student who received a Special Merit Award in the 12โ€“13 Years category. Out of an incredible 18,000 entries nationwide, Aran was one of just 105 young artists recognised with an award.

The final judging was carried out by renowned Irish visual artist, curator and educator Pauline Oโ€™Connell, who is pictured here with Aran.

This remarkable achievement is a testament to Aranโ€™s creativity, talent and dedication. We are incredibly proud of him and delighted to see his artistic ability recognised on a national stage.

Well done, Aran! ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽจโœจ

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of our 5th year student, David Murphy, who passed away on Friday evening after a bravely fought battle.

David was a kind, caring and gentle young man who brought warmth to those around him. He had a deep love for animals, particularly horses, a passion that found its way into so many of his conversations and was a true reflection of who he was.

David will be greatly missed by his classmates, teachers and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

We extend our sincere and heartfelt sympathies to his mam and dad, Olivia and Ciaran, his big brother Jack, and to all his extended family and friends. Our thoughts are with you at this incredibly difficult time. As a school community, we hold you in our hearts and stand with you in your grief.

Taken far too soon, David will always be remembered with great fondness.

May he rest in peace ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธโค๏ธ
