Sharing is not expected in our Montessori classroom. We support and encourage children to share, while we are also aware it is not a skill that has developed for some of our younger students.

We do this by providing each activity on its own tray, that is taken to a table or mat on the floor to be worked with and returned when finished. Allowing children to work uninterrupted on a piece they are drawn to and not expected to share if somebody else wants the same activity. Children learn they can choose any tray that is on the shelf, and naturally wait for a tray to be returned to the shelf so they can then play with it.

As a parent of 4 small children, I definitely shy away from messy play at home, so I tend to whole heartily embrace it at school. 😃

Messy play is so important for little minds 🧠 and little hands 👐 . Children learn through their senses, meaning messy play is ideal for exploration, investigation and discovery.

Congratulations to Patricia on her recent graduation from Mary Immaculate College Limerick. Patricia spent the last year studying to be the Inclusion Co-ordinator for her Montessori. Giving every child in Montessori the right to be included no matter their needs or ability. 👩🏻‍🎓

It's been a while since we shared our lovely facilities and all the fun and adventures the children have had since September. So let's look at our new and improved outdoor area that we spend alot of our time out in, while the weather still let's us.
