Torchlight Procession at Lourdes
The torchlight procession in Lourdes was a deeply moving experience, filling the night with a beautiful glow of faith and unity.
Our student helpers looked incredibly elegant dressed in their black and white uniforms as they guided the community.
Each student was assigned to an assisted pilgrim, fostering heartfelt connections and providing dedicated support throughout the evening.
It was a truly lovely and meaningful night that highlighted the inspiring spirit of service within our school.

Breathtaking Views and Special Blessings: Our Unforgettable Day in Lourdes
Morning at the Peaks: The Magnificent Pic du JerWith a free morning on our itinerary, our group took full advantage of the beautiful weather and headed straight for the magnificent Pic du Jer.
The adventure began with a thrilling funicular cable car ride, scaling the steep mountainside to the summit. Once at the top, we were treated to spectacular, panoramic views of the Pyrenees. Even as we head into the warmer months, patches of pristine white snow still dusted the distant peaks, making the scenery absolutely breathtaking. It was truly an amazing experience that photos simply cannot do justice.
A Touching Afternoon: The Anointing of the Sick
After a quick lunch to refuel, we transitioned from the heights of the mountains to the spiritual heart of Lourdes for the Anointing of the Sick.
This afternoon service was an incredibly moving and special celebration for our school community. We were immensely proud to have two of our own students actively involved in leading the prayers for the anointing. Their participation brought a deeply personal and reverent energy to the service, leaving a lasting impression on everyone in attendance."It was a day of perfect balance—experiencing the awe of creation in the morning, and the grace of community and faith in the afternoon."

Commending Commitment: Three-Year Lourdes Service Awards Presented
Today, we proudly celebrated the outstanding dedication of both current teacher, Joan McElligott, and a past pupil, Sarah Mahony,who were each presented with a special service pin. This meaningful award honours their incredible commitment to volunteering in Lourdes for three years. Their shared devotion beautifully bridges the past and present of our school community, inspiring us all to live out a life of service.

Day 4: Faith, Fellowship and Unforgettable Memories in Lourdes
What an incredible and spiritually uplifting day we have had on Day Four of our Lourdes pilgrimage! From moments of deep prayer to a night filled with laughter and dance, today truly captured the beautiful spirit of this special place.
A Morning of Deep Reflection
Our day began with a beautiful Mass in the breathtaking Rosary Basilica. Gathering together in such a stunning and sacred space set a perfect, serene tone for the hours ahead.
Following Mass, we participated in the Stations of the Cross. To accommodate everyone, students and pilgrims had the option to walk either the High Stations or the Low Stations. It was a deeply moving experience, made even more special as three of our own students were privileged to be included in leading the prayers during the Stations. Seeing our young people represent the school with such reverence was a very proud moment.
Our students also actively jumped into the diocesan youth ministry session, which proved to be very engaging and entertaining. The energetic team leader kept everyone thoroughly engaged with lively discussions, action-oriented activities, and shared faith-building moments. It was fantastic to see our group collaborating so enthusiastically with other young people from across the diocese, proving that faith can be both deeply meaningful and incredibly fun.
In the evening, we attended the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. It was a profoundly peaceful and uplifting experience. In the quiet solemnity of the underground chapel, our students had the chance to pause, reflect and offer up their own personal prayers, feeling a tangible sense of community and spiritual renewal.
We wrapped up this momentous day with an absolute explosion of joy! Tonight, we headed down to the Accueil Notre-Dame for an evening of entertainment.
"The energy in the room was electric—you couldn't help but smile, sing along, and get on your feet!" The hall was filled with music, singing, and dancing as our students joined hands with the pilgrims, assisted pilgrims and fellow helpers. It was a wonderful celebration of community, breaking down barriers and bringing everyone together for a great night of fun.

Lourdes Pilgrimage: Day Three
The day began with our students taking on dining room duties at the Accueil Notre-Dame. Demonstrating incredible maturity and enthusiasm, they had an early start to set up the dining hall and serve breakfast to the assisted pilgrims. It was a beautiful way to start the morning, witnessing our students engage so warmly and thoughtfully with those in their care.
Following breakfast, the group made the short journey to the Holy Baths. In a deeply moving moment of grace, one of our students, Amy Griffin, and teacher Joan McElligott had the privilege of accompanying an assisted pilgrim into the baths. All three were deeply honoured to participate in the full immersion ritual.
"It was an incredibly spiritual and uplifting experience that words can hardly do justice. You could feel a profound sense of peace and renewal in the air."
Mass in the Forest: Cité Saint-Pierre (City of the Poor)
After lunch, everyone boarded the bus to the Cité Saint-Pierre (traditionally known as the City of the Poor). Nestled away from the bustling town, this sanctuary provided a spectacular, tranquil forestry setting for our afternoon Mass.
The Mass was concelebrated in this stunning natural cathedral, made even more magical by the beautiful musical talents of our senior and student helpers. The combination of the rustling trees, heartfelt prayers, and gorgeous music created a remarkably peaceful, calm, and serene atmosphere that everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

Heading to the Holy Grotto: An Inspiring Day Two in Lourdes
Day two of our Lourdes pilgrimage began bright and early with a 6:00 AM wake-up call, but the energy and excitement among our group made the early start entirely worth it.
Our morning began with a deeply moving Mass at the Holy Grotto. Our girls from Presentation Secondary School, Castleisland, had the immense privilege and honour of leading the opening procession down to the Grotto. They did us all proud, holding the Kerry flags to represent our home county on this international stage.
The Mass itself was a truly unforgettable celebration, concelebrated by our Bishop alongside many other priests, setting a profound and spiritual tone for the rest of our day.
Following lunch, we returned to the Sanctuary to experience the passage through the Grotto, walking in the footsteps of St. Bernadette and taking a moment for personal prayer and reflection in the heart of this sacred site.
It was an incredibly busy, spiritually rich, and fulfilling day for our students. We look forward to seeing what blessings the rest of the pilgrimage brings!

Third Year Prayer Service
On Wednesday, the school held a prayer service for third years to mark the end of term and the end of their 3 years of Junior Cycle. This group will now be splitting up between those entering transition year and those going into fifth year.
The third years prepared everything for the prayer service, from writing the prayers, organizing the music, setting up the hall and baking the treats for refreshments at the end. Marguerite and Millie spoke as members of the Student Council and recounted some fond memories from their years together. Students from music sang wonderful renditions of Riptide and Landslide. All of the students received a prayer card and angel bracelet from Mr Dargan and Mr Kelliher in advance of their upcoming state exams.
Well done to all third years and we wish you all the best over the coming 2 weeks. Your summer break is nearly here.
A special thanks to Ms Daly, Ms Whiston and Ms Nagle for all your help in setting up this prayer service for our students.
