This evening we had a wonderful session at Sociable Souls. Our theme was "personal space" and the children did such super work on the topic! We started off with our group play and group story!! 😎We followed that with a discussion on personal space. We used the hoola hoop to demonstrate the visual of each person's personal space. 🤗We spoke about the importance of understanding our own space and respecting the space of the people around us!! The children were great at understanding the importance. 🤗 We got to go outside for some fun in the sunshine and when we came back inside we played more of our favourite games. 😃 We sat down for some more discussion on our topic with some discussion prompts and then we finished with a group art activity while respecting each other's personal space. We'll be back again next week for our final session of the block.

This evening we had another super evening at Sociable Souls! Our theme of the evening was "conversation skills". 🗣. We had a chat together about the things that we like to chat to our friends about! ☺️We then read a story about all of us being individuals and we are all special in our own right! We followed this with some fun games and then we got stuck into conversation practice! We read out conversation starters and kept the chat going around the group for as long as we could!! 😊It was great fun. We also worked with our conversation cubes where each picture prompted a group chat and we kept it going! The group were brilliant! 🤩We finished off the eve with some art fun along with some chit chat before everyone went home! Looking forward to seeing everyone again next Monday 😀

This evening we had another great session at Sociable Souls. The topic that we were focusing on was "listening skills" as this is a huge part of forming friendships. 🤗 We practiced some listening skills with a story about a gorgeous friendship between a snail and a whale! 🐳Then we got into some active listening games! These were so much fun! We then listened to instructions for colouring a scene! The group did super work! 😉We had a little chat about friendships and things we like to do with our peers such as talking and eating lunch together! We noticed how important listening skills are in all these things! 🥰We finished up with a floor art activity and our favourite parachute games!! Great fun as always....😀

This evening at Sociable Souls we worked on the topic of "feelings" and learning to understand our feelings. 😀 We listened to a story and picked out all the different feelings that the characters felt!! We then talked about the emotion of "anger" and what causes it in our own lives!! 🤯We talked about times that we have felt angry and then we went through tactics that we can practice that help us get back on track after feeling this emotion. We learned how to visualise bubbles floating, we practiced mindful colouring, we practiced "5 finger" breathing, we talked about the benefit of getting outdoors into the fresh air and lastly we talked about having a safe space at home that we can go to to regulate our emotions!! 🤗The children got to try out all of these tactics and got to feel the benefits of them too. We also had some fun and games in between and some group Lego activities. We'll see everyone again next week....☺️

This evening was the launch of a brand new term at Sociable Souls!! It was super to see everyone again and to welcome some new faces!! 🤗 Our topic for this evening was "cooperation and playing together"! 😄 We started off with our story about a jungle full of animals who cooperated with each other to help a little monkey find his mum! We had a catch up chat and then we got stuck into our favourite playground games! 🙌The children practiced playing together and took turns at leading each game! 🏆We cooperated as a grouo to decorate a beautiful canvas with our colouring skills. 🌈 We then had a chat about friendly and unfriendly actions just to help us recognise when people are not being very nice.☺️ We coloured some more and we played some more active game before we ended the session with the beloved parachute to finish on a high! It was super to be back and we are looking forward to see what the next few weeks will bring....😁

This evening we had our last Sociable Souls for the term and it was a super one of course!! Our theme for the evening was "following directions " as well as some Easter fun too!! 🐣We read a fun story and then had a chat about directions and why we need them in our lives! ⤴️↗️We had a little activity where we had to listen and follow directions!! We also had some directional active games!! Then we got stuck into our Easter fun with art, mask making and a Easter themed "who am I?" game!! 🐰We had the best of fun and it was a great way to say goodbye until the next season of Sociable Souls I a few months!! This evening at Sociable Souls we worked on the theme "flexible thinking " and how sometimes it's ok to think outside the box! 🤔We read a story about when things don't work as planned and then we had a discussion on how we feel when our own plans don't work out. 🤪 We mixed our theme with some St Patrick's themed fun which was great. ☘️We played "what time is it Larry Leprechaun?" and "Leaping Leprechauns", it was so much fun. We listened to the story of St Patrick and then made our own shamrocks with green play dough! ☘️ We used our theme of flexible thinking to colour in some shamrocks as bright as we could! 🤗We finished off with some flexible thinking prompt questions which were great for thinking alternatively. It was another fun session at Sociable Souls....

This evening at Sociable Souls was another fun one. Our theme was "conflict resolution" so we started with a chat about what this meant and if we had ever had to deal with conflict. 🤔 Some of the children had their own experiences which they recalled! 😊We took a break from such a strong topic by going outside for some fun in the fresh air. We played all of our favourite outdoor games and it was such a lovely change of scenery! 🥰We went back inside where we got stuck back into our theme! We went through some conflict scenarios and then we practiced ways to deal with the conflict calmly and without getting ourselves into further issues!😔 We finished off with some bubbles before we all went home. 😀

This evening at Sociable Souls we were focusing on the theme of "creativity and imagination"! 🖍🖌These are very important factors in the formation of friendships as they help us to find links with others!! We started off with a catchup and we had a lovely story which embraced imagination!! We spoke about the areas of creativity that we find ourselves drawn to. 🥰 We played a fun active game to get our energy up!! Then we got creative with some play dough which was great fun. 😀 We also had fun with pencils, crayons and paper, seeing where our imaginations took us! It was so lovely to see what unfolded onto the paper! 👏 We then got our imaginations flowing with some fun choice questions before we finished up with a game of Jenga. It was another fun filled evening at Sociable Souls 👌...
