Sixteen bakers are heading to Ploughing 2026 with one aim - to make Ireland's best brown bread.

This year, eight senior finalists will be joined by eight young bakers aged 12 to 18 as the competition introduces a junior category for the first time in its history.

More than 130 loaves were tasted during the regional semi-finals before the final lineup was chosen. The senior winner will take home €5,000 and an oven worth more than €2,000, while the winning junior and their school will each receive a €1,500 voucher.

The finalists will bake live on 15 and 16 September before both winners are crowned on the final day of Ploughing.
