On Friday we celebrated the official opening of our new Youthreach Centre. This occasion would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of staff and students alike, they've poured their hearts into getting this centre to where it is today. May these walls be filled with learning, growth and endless possibilities. Our centre like many others is not just bricks and mortar, it is a place where dreams take shape, friendships blossom and futures are forged.

Many of you know that our close-knit community was rocked in January 2022 when Stephen Kirk was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. We are heartbroken to hear of his passing.
Stephen, supported by his mam Jean, faced this terrible illness the only way he knew. He faced it head on, and fought. He tried and exhausted every available treatment to overcome this illness, and for so long, he was on top. Up until mid-August, he was a regular feature on the streets of Carrick.
He'd nip down on his scooter and call in for a cup of tea, a chat, and even a game of pool if anyone was brave enough.
Stevo was a character who laughed often and brought a smile to many. He was a pillar of strength and love to his mam Jean, and he will not be forgotten. May he rest peacefully.

We were so excited coming to work yesterday morning to see the art work displayed. Our student's really enjoy working on projects that give back to the community. This is the first of 3 big projects for the tidy towns which will be completed over the summer programme. What this space!

Happy International Women's Day. What a fantastic way to celebrate and stand with women who are demanding their fundamental right to equality. There is no better way to accelerate that right, than through education. Congratulations to all the female students. The future is yours.
