International Day of Play takes place annually on 11 June and serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting every child’s right to play. In this reflective blog, Claire explores how play can support participation, belonging, communication and meaningful engagement for all children. Drawing on Aistear, Síolta and the LINC Competency Framework, she highlights the role of inclusive, responsive and intentional play experiences in creating environments where every child feels valued, supported and included.

This weeks theme bees. The children this week learnt about the importance of bees and how they help us, the pollination of the flowers and fruit. And how they bees help make honey and medicine. And the special job of the bee keepers. Help save our bees 🐝

Kinderkare fairy garden 🪏 🪴 🧚🏻

This weeks theme making bird feeders for our garden. The children made bird feeders, using paper holders, honey and bird seeds. Children read a story, coloured a picture and looked at pictures/poster of all the bird names. Is a great activity about caring for the environment and nature for making young children aware of their surroundings.

Emergent interest this week; Night / Day. Some children talked about visiting family over the Easter break and having sleepovers. This got everyone talking about night time. This the children hear at night such as nocturnal animals example owls, talking about family members, sang twinkle twinkle little star, and showed on the map of Ireland the locations in which they visited. The children made their own moon and stars. Coloured a night time picture and looked at the story the darkest dark.
