Mary’s Parish International Group was launched in November 2013 to welcome and support immigrants in our community. Its principal activity is the provision of free conversational English classes through the Fáilte Isteach project. Classes take place on Thursday evenings from 5.30 - 7.00pm in Cahir Community Hall (E21 HY60). We have a wonderful group of volunteer tutors who welcome our immigrant fr
iends and aid them in finding any support they may need. We organised cultural events in Cahir as part of the Polska Éire Festival in March 2015. This initiative was led by the Minister of State for New Communications, Culture, and Equality, Aodhán Ó Riordáin T.D. (Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and Department for Justice and Equality) and was organised through South Tipperary County Council. We were Bord Gáis Energy Donate-a-Library Award winners in 2014 and our project was nominated for the Star Awards in 2015.
