On Thursday we marked our Healthcare Support graduation with a beautiful and meaningful afternoon filled with reflection, inspiring words, and celebration as we recognised the hard work, dedication, and achievement of this wonderful group.
Abbey Courtney opened the proceedings performing 2 songs beautifully. Deirdre welcomed all the family & friends of the graduates, guest speakers Leonard Hurley & Councillor Podge Foley and Sean Donal O' Shea (via online). ( Apologies N Moriarty)..
Leonard spoke of the changes he has seen over the years, where people can now, start on their further education and training journey- any time in their lives..Leonard thanked the ETB, the management and staff of the O’Connell FET Centre for the provision of training that is been provided.
Councillor Podge spoke inspiring words on his journey and the importance of these now newly qualified Healthcare Assistants in the Iveragh and other communities.
Councillor Podge acknowledged the comradery between the students and the wonderful welcoming atmosphere in the O Connell FET Centre.
Sean Donal, gave a strong, open and heartfelt insight into his own caring experience with his late Mom Debbie.
Sean Donal described how carers can make people feel human again, by not just the care, but the friendly chat and remembering the person at the centre of the situation. Sean's Donals key words were empathetic, kind and compassionate.
Sean Ó Laoighaire narrated a meaningful story to end the graduation..
