A lovely treat in store at the wonderful &Kerry County Museum in Tralee this Saturday!

We are so excited! Our friends Clare, Charli and Denise from Déise Medieval in Waterford are bringing our new Viking handling collection to the museum this Saturday 7 February. This includes beautifully made Viking costumes to fit a family, as well as replicas of Viking objects on display in the museum.

Please join us from 3pm to 5pm for a very special workshop and demonstration of the new Viking handling collection and how these objects were made using the same techniques and materials as 1000 years ago! This event is suitable for all ages and included in our admission fee: family offer €3 adults - kids go free.

Guaranteed to be a fascinating event

Our next event, 'Altóir na Gréine', a talk by Dr Billy Mag Fhloinn, will take place in the Sacred Heart University Campus, Di**le, at 7.00 pm on Thursday, 6 November. This talk concerns the "lost" megalithic tomb of Altóir na Gréine in Ballyferriter, and how folklore, history, and technology contributed to its rediscovery.

Very happy that Conor O'Connell is travelling from Roscommon to join Holger Loenze and some of the team from experimental archaeology group Umha Aois (https://www.umha-aois.com/) for bronze casting - using techniques which would have been feasible in the Bronze Age - A great talent, Conor recently graduated from NCAD. His work includes casting stunning replicas of Bronze Age weaponry and artefacts which help us understand how these artefacts were made and used. Join us in Brú na Dromada for 'rock art by night', astronomy, music and the drama of the pour on Saturday evening 6–10.30pm and again on Sunday afternoon (on Sunday children go free with ticketed adults!) - our full programme and tickets here
