Little Moments

Little Moments has finished up for the summer break. We finished off the school year in Hanahoe Childcare Killiney and in The Curragh Family Resource Centre. Most of this term was spent doing mindfulness through art and music along with lots of chats and laughs too. We would like to thank Saibh and her staff in Hanahoes and also everyone at The Curragh Family Resource Centre especially Mary and Christine. It’s so lovely to see the difference mindfulness, through any form, has on the kids from the start of our term with them to the finish. They are all fabulous. It’s often spoken about by adults how resilient kids are, how they bounce back with their built in coping mechanism but they may not know that themselves so this is for all our Resilient Little Hearts 💗💙

Stand up little one stand up tall, don’t allow your fears to make you feel small.
Straighten your back and hold your head high, lift your eyes right up to the sky.

For if you stand up when you feel afraid and hold your head high when you are dismayed, you will see things look different from this view because you grew much bigger than what was scaring you 🥰

You never need to choose who you want to be, you can be anything and everything you have ever wanted to be all at the same time. You don’t need to fit into any box or any boundaries. Always be just you, there’s no one better ! ❤️

Mindfulness - a moment by moment awareness of thoughts feelings and sensations. What better way to be mindful than creating pebble art pictures. A huge amount of thought, love, gratitude, fun and chatting went into the creating of these pebble art pictures at Curragh Resource Centre yesterday afternoon. It was our last class of the term but we are looking forward to going back again in May. Thanks to all the kids and staff we met over the last few weeks, especially Christine, Mary and Megan ❤️

We are really enjoying working with the children and staff at Curragh Family Resource Centre. Happy Easter everyone ❤️

We are at present nearing the end of our term of teaching mindfulness to a lovely group of teenagers at The Curragh Family Resource Centre. For this term we have chosen to teach them mindfulness through art. They have made hand creams with essential oils, which they loved. They have, amongst other things, also painted pebbles and made soap with essential oils.

Mindfulness through art is a great way of helping teens who are experiencing a range of challenges. It supports teens with emotional issues etc by providing a safe and creative space in which they can explore their worries, concerns and feelings. Research shows that positive change occurs during the process of physical engagement with art materials through making an object and the redirecting of feelings into the object. We look forward to coming back again in May for another term. In the meantime we also look forward to starting a term in Hanahoe’s Childcare School in Killiney ❤️

This week is Wellneas Week.
Wellness is the complete integration of body mind and spirit. The realisation that everything we do think and feel has an affect on the state of our wellbeing. If we listen to our body when it whispers we won’t have to hear it when it screams. Have a lovely week ❤️
