Discovering the Past—LEGO Style! 🏺🔍
Our 4th Class boys have been studying the fascinating work of archaeologists. Today, they got hands-on experience exploring the tools and equipment used to excavate ancient sites.
Working in teams, they designed and built their own radar models using LEGO—just like the devices real archaeologists use to detect hidden objects beneath the ground!
It was a wonderful mix of history, science, and creativity in action. Well done, boys! 👏

🍀 **Seachtain na Gaeilge Fun in 4th Class!** 🍀
Mrs Palermo and Mrs Hilliard’s 4th class were very lucky this week to receive a wonderful surprise — **LEGO leprechaun hats**, kindly gifted by a very generous parent.
Having been learning all about **procedural writing** this week, the boys were able to put their learning into practice by carefully following the instructions to build their hats step by step. It was fantastic to see such focus, teamwork and creativity as the hats came together!
A huge **thank you** to the parent who so generously supplied the LEGO sets. We are incredibly lucky to have parents who are so eager to get involved in and support our children’s learning.
Maith sibh, rang a ceathair! 👏🍀

🐉 **Celebrating Chinese New Year in 4th Class!** 🏮
Mrs Hilliard’s and Mrs Palermo’s 4th Class had a fantastic time this week celebrating the Chinese New Year or the Spring Festival.
The children learned that the Chinese New Year is based on the lunar calendar, so the date changes every year. Celebrations last for 15 days and finish with the Lantern Festival.
They also discovered lots of interesting facts, including:
✨ Each year is represented by one of the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac.
✨ 2026 is the Year of the Horse.
✨ Red is a lucky colour, symbolising happiness and good fortune.
✨ Families clean their homes before the New Year to sweep away bad luck and welcome good luck.
The class enjoyed learning about Chinese traditions, creating colourful decorations, and discovering how families celebrate with special foods, fireworks and dragon dances. They even enjoyed fortune cookies 🥠🐲🏮

🧱🔍 Digging into History in 4th Class! 🔍🧱
Mrs Hilliard’s and Mrs Palermo’s 4th class carried out an exciting archaeological dig today as part of the LEGO League Creative Hub “Unearthed” programme.
The pupils learned all about the work of an archaeologist, including the tools used and the importance of carefully excavating a site to preserve artefacts. They also explored how artefacts are cleaned, stored, and dated based on where they are found in the different layers (strata) of soil.
