Creative Digital Media at TU Dublin Blanchardstown

This documentary by Sarah Kennedy follows her own story as she embarks on a journey to learn about dyslexia and how it affects people emotionally and mentally throughout their life. She does this through interviews with family and friends to hear their stories, along with professionals who share informative posts online. Research has found that dyslexic individuals experience high rates of anxiety, stress, depression, embarrassment, poor self-esteem and isolation as a result of their disability. This project aims to inform people with dyslexia that they are not alone and other people experience similar difficulties. This may help them feel less isolated by hearing other people’s thoughts and feelings. It may also open a conversation with people who are not affected by dyslexia, about the impacts it can have on a dyslexic person’s mental health. As this is a topic that is not widely discussed or known about.

A Night with Belphis is an animated short film by Carlos Labuni that follows the story of the sleep paralysis Demon, Belphis. After a long stretch of work she finally gets some time to rest, but instead of going to a magic show with her friend, she gets told by her boss Belphegor that she’s needed for the rest of the weekend. Rage ensues! The film was animated on Clip Studio Paint and drawn frame by frame.

A Grave Matter is a short film directed by Ciaran Anderson that tells the story of two headstone cleaners, Mick and Keith, hired to restore an@old family grave in a remote cemetery. While working, one of them uncovers a mysterious item hidden in the overgrowth. The men quarrel over whether to keep it or return it to the family who employed them, but the consequences of keeping it may be more serious than losing their job.

‘Just Shoot’ is a short documentary that follows three Irish sports photographers - Bryan Keane, Matthew Lysaght and Eoghan Connelly. While we get to see their final photographs in magazines or newspapers, we often don’t see the hard work, determination and stories behind them. Just Shoot reveals the world behind the lens and the passion that drives sports photography.

Ogham is a mixed media animated short film by Dylan Kirwan. Set in the distant future, in what used to be the Irish Sea but now a dry and hostile wasteland, Ogham follows the story of Ned the mutant who is trying to get spare parts for his android elephant, Kelly.

Remembrance is a story driven, 3D interactive game by Scott Li that is centred around the exploration of the player character’s memories through different in-game environments. The objective of the game is to explore the negative consequences of becoming overly attached to the past.

“In Loving Memory” is a short film by Fiachra McGrath that explores the effects of grief and tragic loss on young men.
