Geo Drilling Apprenticeship Opportunities

The Geo Drilling Apprenticeship provides drillers with a dedicated Higher Certificate in Science qualification (NFQ Level Six). The apprenticeship is a two-year programme which combines 'on-the-job' work experience with academic study. Apprentices will work with their employers for 41 weeks and attend classes at IT Carlow 4 days a week for 11 weeks.

The work of a Geo-Driller also involves extracting samples, installing monitoring equipment, undertaking in-situ testing, assessing and developing water supplies and allowing the passage of services under sensitive structures such as roads, railways and canals, and facilitating the installation of ground support and preparing holes to be charged with explosives for blasting.

Cycle Against Su***de are delighted to launch Share the Load on the Road, a virtual 670km cycling challenge that gives everyone in Ireland the chance to support one another.

Share the Load on the Road replaces Cycle Against Su***de’s annual Main Cycle. For over 8 years, our Main Cycle benefitted people across the country, bringing people together in solidarity and awareness. We are committed to keeping that spirit alive, but due to COVID-19 it’s going to look a LOT different this year.

Over the next 5 weeks, we want you to get on your bike and start exploring your county again. Here’s the twist: In the spirit of mutual support that our annual Main Cycle has come to represent and to coincide with our recently launched Community Buddy Programme, https://www.cycleagainstsuicide.com/community-buddy-club/, we are asking you to complete the challenge with your buddy. So, nominate a buddy or buddies to join you and together, Share the Load on the Road!

The Shona Project https://shona.ie/ are running two competitions for girls to express themselves and share their perspectives and stories.

Competition 1: Writing: Here at SHONA, we believe in the power of storytelling, of sharing our experiences to empower ourselves and those around us. Since the huge success of SHINE and seeing how it took all of our minds off the stress of the unknown, we want to amplify their voices and give them a space to share their story.

For more info, closing dates and how to get involved, https://shona.ie/writing-competition/

Competition 2: Art and Design: Do your girls have a flair for art and design? Do they love celebrating amazing women? Well, we have the perfect competition for them! Our amazing friends at The Wonderkind, are launching a new range of beautiful badges, each featuring an inspiring female designed by one of your girls!

For more info, closing dates and how to get involved, https://shona.ie/pin-design-comp/
