Its hard to capture the explosion of music and creativity that we were treated to on Sunday at Griston Bog. The bog forms a natural amphitheatre. In August it is purple with the Heather in full bloom and for a few hours it was filled with music. The beauty of nature at Griston Bog was celebrated as part of Ballylanders Pattern Festival and Heritage Week.
African drumming workshops for children and adults, a fusion of Sean nos dancing and African drumming (choreographed and led by Ciara Flanagan and Patrick Naughton), hands on art and an exhibition of plaster casts of bog plants and a magical trad music discovery trail around the bog all explored the theme of NATURE'S RHYTHMS.
We are so grateful to all the volunteers and CE scheme, the musicians and dancers who infused the afternoon with joyous rhythms, the audience who participated and explored and tapped to the beat and of course our funders.
The Nature's Rhythm project is funded by CreativeIrl and Limerick City and County Council Limerick Arts Office through Limerick Creative Communities Programme 2026.
