Category B safety reminder: tiredness is a reason to stop 😴

If you are struggling to stay awake while driving, do not try to push through to your destination. Stop and park somewhere safe.

Plan rest into longer journeys and think about whether you are rested enough before setting off. Arriving later is better than taking a risk with fatigue.

RSA campaign spotlight: familiar roads can still surprise you 🌳

Knowing a rural route well does not mean knowing what is around the next bend. The RSA’s rural-speeding campaign reminds drivers to respect speed limits and stay ready for unexpected hazards.

Treat the limit as a maximum, not a goal. Give yourself time to respond to what you can actually see.

Category B safety reminder: make the passenger check part of your routine ✅

Before moving off, check that everyone has fastened their seatbelt — including passengers in the back. A short, friendly reminder from the driver can make the difference between someone remembering and forgetting.

A familiar journey still deserves the same care.

Read the RSA’s seatbelt guidance:

RSA campaign spotlight: stay alert on the way home 🚗

The RSA’s evening-risk campaign highlights the extra care needed between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., when traffic, tiredness and distractions can meet.

Give yourself time, put distractions away and look carefully for people walking, cycling or motorcycling. Check mirrors and blind spots before changing direction, even on a familiar route.

Give the evening journey some breathing space.

Keep a safe gap behind the vehicle ahead so you have room to react and a better view of the road. Increase that space when rain or reduced visibility makes the journey harder.
