Open Night Update

Unfortunately, we have had to cancel our Open Night, which was scheduled for Tuesday, 6 October, due to ongoing industrial action by teacher unions. Please check the Admissions section of our school website for all important and up-to-date information regarding admissions and enrolment. We look forward to welcoming enrolled students to Ballinrobe Community School in February 2027, when they will have the opportunity to visit the school, experience school life and see all that we have to offer.

A most enjoyable day was had by our Transition Year students recently at a Career Exploration Workshop & Activity Day at Westport House. The students got an insight into the career pathways of various members of the Westport House Estate. They also had lots of fun on the Quarry Edge Leap, Zip-lines, Climbing Zone and the Giant Swing). Thanks to all at Westport Estate for providing us with a very enjoyable day.

📚 A New Chapter

The library has been a long-standing and much-loved tradition in Ballinrobe Community School.

We’ve recently transformed the space into a second Special Classroom, creating a wonderful environment for students in our school community. 💙

As one chapter closes, another begins. The space will continue to grow and evolve as we decorate and design it into a warm, welcoming room where our students can take ownership and make it their own.

The former ‘library’ is moving to room 19 and will become The Study. 📖✨

Tara Ní Bhaoighill won first place in the uilleann pipes and second place in the slow airs competition at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2026 in Belfast! This is an outstanding achievement. Wins like these are extremely rare and Tara is up there with the best every year.

Ballinrobe Community School was delighted to celebrate the achievements of its Leaving Certificate class of 2026, with just under 20% of students achieving more than 500 points.

It was a very strong performance from a year group whose talents extended across the full spectrum of school and community life. The cohort included All-Ireland-winning footballers, members of the Mayo Ladies football team, and students who excelled across a wide range of interests and activities. It was particularly pleasing to see so many of them achieve their individual goals.

The highest achiever was Rossa Burke, who achieved the maximum 625 points — an exceptional accomplishment. It was also particularly pleasing to see twins Sean and Henry Hughes both achieve more than 550 points, with just one CAO point separating them!

The Principal, Julie Anne Colins, thanked all of the teachers who supported the students throughout their time at Ballinrobe Community School, acknowledging their dedication and commitment in helping each student reach their full potential. ‘The achievements of the class reflect the hard work of the students, along with the support of their teachers and families’, said Julie Anne.

As the students await their CAO offers and prepare for the next stage of their lives, the school wishes them every success and happiness in their future endeavours.

They are a credit to their families and the school is very proud of all they have achieved.

Congratulations and best wishes to past pupil Darragh Forde from The Neale, who is set to make his National League debut this weekend as Mayo FC take on St. Francis in the club's first-ever game at this level.

We encourage everyone to come along and show their support for Darragh on this special occasion.
Darragh was always an outstanding sportsman and a valued student at Ballinrobe Community School. We are incredibly proud of his achievements and wish him every success with Mayo FC throughout the season ahead.
