Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Awareness Day, an opportunity to raise
awareness and understanding of a lifelong, often hidden disability that affects individuals, families, and communities.

✨ First Week Back! ✨
Our school shines because of familiar faces, new faces, happy faces … and plenty of excited faces! 😊
New friendships beginning, old friendships picking up where they left off, new routines being learned and lots of stories being shared.
Every child brings something special and unique through our doors and together they make Ballinlough National School Roscommon the welcoming, colourful and happy little school that it is.
It’s been a busy first week, and it’s lovely to have our school full of chatter, laughter and learning again. Here’s to another great school year together! 🌟📚

🏆 A BET IS A BET! 😁 today was the day!
During Summer Camp, a very important Sam Maguire wager was made between pupil and Principal…a Principal from Mayo.
💚❤️ Mayo win = eat the cauliflower!
💚💛 Kerry win = ONE WHOLE YEAR homework free! 😱📚
Fair play; the cauliflower arrived, the bet was honoured and there was no backing out! As a little reward for taking on the cauliflower the whole school will celebrate with a week off homework next week 👏
A very proud little Roscommon supporter 💙💛 A brilliant bit of Summer Camp craic and a memory we'll definitely be keeping! ❤️

To all our Past Pupils and friends of Ballinlough National School receiving exam results today, we’re thinking of you and wishing you every success 💙
Whatever appears on that page, remember "it is a result", not a definition of who you are or who you will become!
Some doors will open exactly as you hoped; others may lead you somewhere you had never expected, but often the best parts of life are found on the roads we had never planned to take 🗺
Be proud of how far you’ve come and excited for what lies ahead because this really isn’t the finish line...it’s only the beginning. Work hard, take chances, travel, laugh often, be kind and live a life that makes you happy. You only get one go at it, so make it a good one ❤️

A dramatic view of this evening’s partial solar eclipse from Ballinlough, Co. Roscommon, as the Moon passed across the face of the Sun.

The eclipse began shortly after 6.10pm, with maximum eclipse occurring at around 7.10pm, when over 90% of the Sun was covered from this part of Ireland.

🌞🌑✨ A very special day in the skies over Ireland! ✨☄️ Wednesday 12th August, we get a fantastic double celestial show!

🌑 PARTIAL SOLAR ECLIPSE
From Ireland up to around 96% of the Sun will be covered at maximum eclipse! It begins shortly after 6pm, reaches its maximum around 7.10pm and finishes just after 8pm.
⚠️ Remember never look directly at the Sun. Proper certified eclipse glasses are essential or make a DIY projector (instructions below).

☄️ PERSEID METEOR SHOWER
Then tonight look up again! The Perseids peak overnight tonight into Thursday morning and with a New Moon, the skies should be beautifully dark for spotting shooting stars.

Now all we need in the West of Ireland is for the clouds to cooperate! 🤞
