The Core Mayo

The Core Mayo The Core is a creative space for young musicians, under the auspices of Music Generation Mayo and housed within Ballina Arts Centre.

Do you play a musical instrument or sing? Are you curious about music production in the studio or in a live setting? Maybe you have a band or perhaps you would like to start or join one? Do you want to meet like minded creative people and make music in a positive and supportive environment? No matter what your musical style and taste is, we would love to hear from you here at The Core!!! At The Co

re, you can express yourself and work on your music - we have a dedicated rehearsal room with lots of instruments including electric guitars, drums, backline, PA systems and studio recording equipment. All you need to do is come along, make music, meet people and have fun!

The Core: "Your Music Space"

This is Iarla and Alex. They are both students who attended a school programme here at earlier this year. They have since become members of The Core.

They both took an interest in drums since the programme and have been learning by themselves aside of their main instruments. They asked me would I do a workshop with them so they could explore the drums further. I was only delighted to help.

It's wonderful to see young people take initiative and reach out for help in order to further their learning. I can safely say that all of us at are only too delighted to impart our knowledge and experience to young musicians and help them on their journey.

Remember, The Core is YOUR MUSIC SPACE. Members get a say in what is programmed here. Let your voice be heard and let us help you on your musical journey.

The wonderful Lisa Canny and the Music Generation Mayo Harp Ensemble are celebrating with a co-composition by Lisa and the Young Musicians! They'll also be performing this and more at the Linenhall Arts Centre on May 17th as part of witht Grainne Hambly William Jackson Music and a full night of Mayo Music including youth music groups faciliatated by Emer Mayock, Diarmaid Moynihan and Stephen Doherty!

Amplify Youth is an open music showcase presented by The Core, Music Generation Mayo at Ballina Arts Centre on Friday, May 10th at 8pm . The event is part of Music Generation Mayo’s Féile Mhaigh Eo – A Youth Music Festival, taking place throughout Mayo across the month of May. Amplify Youth will feature teenage bands, groups, duos and solo performers from across Mayo and beyond.

Only one day left until the close of registration for �Amplified Youth - an open music showcase at Ballina Arts Centre and open to bands, groups, duos and solo performers (aged 12-18) of all genres of music.�

We are calling for submissions of an audio/video recording of your act for consideration. Submissions close on April 19th at 5pm. Register at www.thecoremayo.ie
