What a special occasion for our wonderful Second Class pupils who made their First Holy Communion on the 16th of May in Fairymount Church 🤍✨

It was such a beautiful and memorable day for the children, their families and our whole school community. We were so proud to see each child carry out their role during the ceremony with such confidence, kindness and reverence. They truly did themselves and our school proud.

A huge thank you also to the pupils of The Don National School who took part in the choir. Your beautiful singing added so much to the ceremony and helped to make the day even more special for everyone present 🎶

We also had a lovely celebration in the school on Monday for our communicants and we were delighted to welcome a very special guest, Fr. Micheál, who arrived just in time to join us for some tasty treats, buns and cakes!!🍰🧁

A day full of smiles, music, memories and celebration that we will not forget 💛

Huge congratulations to two very talented girls from our school community! 🌟

Well done to our current pupil, Róisín McCann, who won a bronze medal in Recitation at the Community Games 👏🥉

A big congratulations also to past pupil, Ruby McDonagh, who won a silver medal in Solo Modern Dance 💃🥈

We are so proud of you both and delighted to see your hard work and talent being rewarded. Well done girls! 🌟

🎙️ The Don N.S. on MidWest Radio! 🇮🇪

What a fantastic day at The Don N.S. as we welcomed MidWest Radio’s Joe Byrne to our school as part of our Seachtain na Gaeilge celebrations!

Our Senior Room pupils had an incredible opportunity to take to the airwaves, performing their play “Luaithrín” along with a beautiful selection of Irish songs. They spoke with confidence, sang with enthusiasm, and truly showcased the wonderful talent and spirit of our pupils.
A very special word of thanks to their teacher, Ms. Ruth Duffy, for the exceptional work she has put into preparing the children. Her passion for Gaeilge and dedication to her pupils was evident throughout, and she herself gave a fantastic interview on the day.

Joe spoke very highly of our school, praising the warm, welcoming atmosphere and the lovely environment here in The Don N.S., something we are incredibly proud of.

Throughout the interview with the Senior Room, Joe interspersed songs he had previously recorded with Junior Room teacher, Sinéad McGuire, specially chosen for Lá ‘le Pádraig and Seachtain Na Gaeilge reflecting the diversity of our Irish musical traditions and the pride in which it is held throughout the school.

We are so proud of our pupils and the positive impression they made. Opportunities like this highlight the vibrant, supportive and enriching environment we are so lucky to have here in The Don N.S.
