Making a Difference, One Bottle at a Time! ♻️

Over the past number of months, our learners have been collecting returnable plastic bottles throughout the centre as part of our commitment to caring for our environment.

Through the Deposit Return Scheme, our learners brought all the collected bottles to Dunnes Stores and turned their hard work into a well-deserved treat! They enjoyed pizza together while sitting by the River Shannon on a beautiful sunny day.

We are so proud of our learners for taking responsibility, caring for our environment, and helping to keep our centre clean and sustainable.

Well done to all our learners for getting involved and making a difference!

Micheál Glennon, Rugby Development Officer for Connacht, works closely with Roscommon Sports Partnership on initiatives that encourage young people to get involved in rugby. Our learners had the wonderful opportunity to be mentored by Micheál and benefit from his expertise and encouragement.

As part of our Sports and Recreation Course, our young learners have been enjoying learning how to prepare delicious and healthy meals.

This morning, they treated us to a beautiful breakfast menu, including porridge, boiled eggs and toast, followed by pancakes topped with fresh berries.

It was absolutely delicious — yummy, yummy!

The Athlone River Festival is the town’s flagship summer event, celebrating the rich heritage and vibrant community spirit of the River Shannon. Held annually over the August Bank Holiday weekend, the festival features an exciting programme of Viking-themed activities, live entertainment, street theatre, and a variety of on and off water attractions.

Aoife, from the Family Resource Centre, works closely with our Hair and Beauty learners to provide valuable support in preparing for the festival, helping to ensure the event is a memorable success this year. Well done ladies!
