'Voices from the Farside' - Meet the Performers
Meet the inspiring Athlone voices that will feature this Sunday at ‘Voices from the Farside’; Artist, poet and lecturer Dr. Caroline Coyle (and newly appointed Chairperson of the Athlone Family Resource Centre Board of Directors) will open the afternoon for us. Following that, a performance from singer-songwriter Anne Marie Hynes, readings from artist and poet Dee McKiernan and readings from renowned published poet Jackie Gorman.
We’ll also hear from Dr Christine Moran, academic, psychotherapist and business owner, while poet Mary Hennigan will share a personal reflection on her relationship with her mother and some of the poetry it inspired. Other excellent performances include community based artist and singer-songwriter Kara Richards, and Breegen Hegarty shares excerpts from ‘Buds from the Heart’, a reflective memoir through storytelling.
With such a wide range of inspiring local female voices, this promises to be a very special afternoon of conversation, inspiring stories, moving poetry and music.
This event will be hosted by poet and Athlone Family Resource Centre's Festival and Events Coordinator and Aoife Doolan, community based artist, musician and Athlone Family Resource Centre's Community Arts Inclusion worker.
We would like to extend our special thanks to and Abbey Road Artists Studio for collaborating with us on this event and hosting us.
There is no entry fee for this event but we do welcome donations so that Athlone Family Resource Centre can continue to host community events like this one.
We hope to see you there.
Sunday, March 8th. 4pm.
Abbey Road Artist Studios, Athlone.
