Training For Employment

Training For Employment TFE is a Local Training Initiative funded by Longford Westmeath Education and Training Board and sponsored by Westmeath Community Development.

The Training for Employment project (TFE), was established in 1998 and currently provides training at FETAC level 5 in Community and Health Services. This course prepares individuals to progress directly into employment in the area of social care, working with the elderly and other health related areas. It also provides the accreditation required to access third level education in colleges and un

iversities. On successful completion of the course graduates can apply through the CEO for courses in the area of social care, business studies and various other areas. The course is learner centred providing individual attention thereby enabling all who take part in the programme the opportunity to reach their full potential. Group and one to one tuition is available throughout the programme which greatly enables the participants to reach the required standards to achieve their FETAC accreditation. TFE is a full time course and runs for approximately 10 months, and covers eight modules as follows:
• Communications
• Personal Effectiveness
• Human Growth & Development
• Social Studies
• Teamworking
• Work Experience
• Word Processing
• Health & Safety
Work placement forms an important part of the course and often leads to employment. Job seeking skills are also part of the course and include CV and letter writing, and practical training in interview skills. For further details on the TFE programme contact:
