Make the weekend epic with a visit to the wonderful OPW - Office of Public Works Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre. Join Laoch Living History this Sunday 13th of September in the stable yard and step back in time to the 17th Century. Meet the Musketeer, the Gunner, the Dragoon and Drill Sargent and after all that attend the Barber Surgeon and encounter the gruesome world of 17th century medical science. In the afternoon walk the battlefield with costumed historian Tola Collier and see how geography, military science and the struggle for dominance between European alliances brough about the battle of the Boyne.

This year for heritage week 2026, Laoch Living History introduced the” Women of the Boyne” and we were delighted with the public response. Thank you to everyone who came to see us during Heritage Week, It was a pleasure to meet so many people and make new friends in history from around the world.

The “Women of the Boyne” brought the vital role of 17th Century women in logistics, and medical care to life alongside the social and military history of the Musketeer, the Barber Surgeon, Gunner and Drill Sargent. Thanks as ever to our colleagues in the OPW-Office of Public Works, Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre for making Heritage Week an outstanding success we are looking forward to next year already. Time travel this Sunday with Laoch Living History and meet the Women of the Boyne. Talk to our wonderful re-enactors and find out about food, foraging and the often overlooked heroin's of the 17th Century. Thank you to everyone who came to see us at the wonderful Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre this weekend. It was fantastic to meet so many people from home and abroad with a passion for history. Join Laoch Living History this Sunday for more historical fun in the sun. Meet the Musketeer and the Dragoon. Talk to the Barber Surgeon about tooth worms and find out what life was like on campaign from the Drill Sargent and the Artillery gunner. In the afternoon join costumed historian Tola Collier and walk the battlefield in the footsteps of soldiers from all over 17th century Europe.

A historic weekend from the 17th to the 20th centuries ! Thanks to everyone who came to see us on the Laoch Living History stand and who watched our "Fi****ms through the ages" display. Laoch Living History were honoured to once again fire a salue and render honours to the new Mayor of Drogheda. Thank you to the new Mayor Declan Power and his colleagues. Thanks also to everyone who attended and to our friends in history the Old Drogheda Society & Drogheda Museum, Millmount for their hospitality and for an excellent event. We look forward to seeing you all again soon.
