🌈 Well done to our LCA1 Leisure and Recreation class who organised a Colour Run for our 1st Year students last Friday as part of their Task!

The class put a lot of work into organising the event, and great fun was had by both the organisers and the 1st Years who took part.

A big thank you to Mr Flood for his help and support on the day and to all the Mall who allowed us to use the facility for the event.

Well done to everyone involved! 👏

🏀🌟🏀 On Thursday last, our U19 & U16 boys basketball sides welcomed our fellow LWETB compatriots Athlone Community College to The Mall for the 3rd round of the Midlands C competition.

The U19 game was first up. A very impressive first half performance from the boys, where they managed to both dominate under the board and around the three point line, seen Templemichael lead 28 - 11. But the third quarter belonged to Athlone CC and some outstanding three point shooting from no.4 Keelan Martin seen the away side come storming back into the game and they reduced the gap to seven points going into the final quarter. The home side managed to reassert their dominance and eventually the ground out the win by returning to the basics. At the final buzzer the home side emerged victorious on a scoreline of Templemichael College 55 - 44 Athlone CC.

The U16 game followed and the away side showed their dominance throughout. The Templemichael boys were missing their big centre Alex Heslin and his presence in both defence and offence was a loss. The visiting side dominated the first three quarters but the Templemichael boys never let the heads drop and they continued to persevere throughout and they had an outstanding final quarter showing their ability. Ultimately they had left themselves with too much of a mountain to climb and at the final buzzer the away side took the spoils. The final score was Templemichael College 37 - 45 Athlone CC.

Both sides face their final group games this week when we welcome Roscommon Community College to The Mall this coming Thursday. Thank you to coach Mr Mc Hugh. referee Joe Henry for his officiating last week and to Neill and Martina from the Longford Phoenix Basketball Club for their help with the score table alongside our students Sebastian and Mccann.🏀🌟🏀

Well done to Sarah Taitt (5th yr) and Jessica-Joyce Dent (2nd yr), who represented the school at the Gum Litter Taskforce launch on 23rd September in partnership with Longford County Council. 👏♻️

The campaign encourages everyone to dispose of their gum responsibly, helping to keep our communities clean while highlighting the €250 fine for gum littering.

Sarah and Jessica are pictured at the launch with Cllrr Gerry Hagan and Longford County Council Chief Executive Samantha Healy.

Well done to Sarah and Jessica for representing our school and supporting such an important environmental initiative! 🌱💚

🏀🌟🌟🏀 Both our U19 & U16 boys teams enjoyed their first wins in the Midlands C Schools basketball competition on Tuesday September 29th.

After our historic year last year the school has moved up a grade to compete now at Midlands C.

Disappointing opening round defeats away to Wilson’s Hospital showed the boys the level that they now faced.

On Tuesday, we faced into a local Longford ETB derby game against Ballymahon VS in The Mall.
Both games were incredibly competitive, tight affairs, with very little separating the sides.
In the U16 game both sides split quarters with as little as two baskets between each team in three of the four. It was Templemichael’s strong third quarter performance where they managed to win by 7 points, which was the telling difference at the end of the game. At the final ho**er, the home side emerged victorious by 5 points on a scoreline of Templemichael 35 Ballymahon VS 30.

In the U19 game Templemichael looked the stronger of the two teams in the opening half. However Ballymahon VS produced a strong third quarter to leave the game very tight going into the final quarter. Despite some nervy moments, Templemichael managed to work through their difficulties and emerge winners on a final score of Templemichael 54 Ballymahon VS 48.

Well done to both teams for producing two highly competitive and entertaining games of basketball. There were some excellent skills on display from both sides.

Thank you to referee John Barry for his officiating on the day. Special thanks to Coach Mr Mc Hugh, Martina and Neill from Longford Phoenix Basketball Club for their help with the score table and constant support for basketball in our school.🏀🌟🌟🏀

Past student Anna from Germany 🇩🇪, who studied with us here in Templemichael in 2023-24, came back to say hi today and reminisce about the great time and how beneficial the year here with us was to her. Anna also spoke to some of this year’s international students from Germany🇩🇪, Italy🇮🇹, Belgium🇧🇪, Spain🇪🇸 and France🇫🇷, offering them some advice from the time she spent in our school and in Ireland🇮🇪. It is always wonderful to welcome back our past students here in Templemichael and to catch up on how life has been since leaving our school community. Thanks for calling by Anna and wishing you the best of luck for your future plans.
