Since 2003, the average American's alone time has grown by roughly 24 hours a month, while time spent actually socializing with friends has dropped by about 20 hours a month. and that trend started before the pandemic even hit.
For people under 30, it's even sharper. we're spending 45% more time alone than the same age group did back in 2010.
This is such a sad trajectory and something i hope we see change as more of us wake up to how unsustainable that isolation is for our minds, our nervous systems, our souls.
Not to mention that humans were never meant to process their inner world in a vacuum. we need reflection, we need witness, we need to be in a room with other people doing the same inner work.
Remember that how you spend your time and who you spend it around is your true vote on what kind of inner life, and what kind of culture, you are building.
So sit down. with other people. in silence. it will be good for your heart 🫀✨🕊️🧘
