O Arunachala, eternal mountain of fire,
burn away ignorance and draw me into stillness.

O Lord Shiva, source of all consciousness,
may your presence dissolve the false and reveal the real.

Sri Matre, Divine Mother of all worlds,
hold me in your boundless compassion today.

Durga, protector and strength of the soul,
remove obstacles and give courage to walk the path of truth.

Saraswati, flowing river of wisdom,
may my words, thoughts, and actions be pure and clear.

Lakshmi, gentle giver of abundance and grace,
fill this day with harmony, generosity, and gratitude.

May this life be offered in devotion.
May this mind rest in the Self.
May this heart remember the divine in all.

In the Vedic view, fire is not just a physical element. It is a messenger. Agni is the bridge between the human world and the divine. When offerings are placed into the sacred fire during a yajna, the flame is understood to carry those offerings upward to the devas. The fire becomes a living channel of communication between earth and heaven.

The sages called Agni the mouth of the gods. What we offer into the fire is not simply burned. It is transformed. Ghee, herbs, grains, and mantra are given together. The substance feeds the flame, and the mantra carries intention. What rises in smoke and light becomes prayer.

And this fire is not only outside of us. The Vedic seers also spoke of inner fire. The fire that digests food, the fire that sharpens perception, the fire that turns experience into understanding. Agni is the power of transformation itself.

Kali is not here to make you comfortable. She is here to make you free. She cuts through illusion, ego, fear, and everything false we cling to.

Yes, she is fierce.

But that fierceness is compassion in its rawest form. Kali does not destroy you. She destroys what is not truly you.

When you stop resisting her fire, something extraordinary happens.
What remains is truth, power, and an unshakeable freedom.

Sometimes grace arrives as a gentle whisper. Sometimes it arrives as Kali.

Both are love.

Ever wondered why Shiva has a small crescent moon resting in his hair? 🌙

There’s a beautiful story behind it.

The moon god, Chandra, was once cursed and began losing his light little by little. As he faded, he prayed to Shiva for help. Shiva, full of compassion, placed the moon on his head and protected him. From then on, the moon began its cycle of fading and returning again.

But the symbol goes deeper than the story.

The moon represents time, change, and the natural cycles of life. By wearing it on his head, Shiva reminds us that pure consciousness is beyond those cycles. Everything in life rises and falls, grows and dissolves, but awareness itself remains steady.

And there’s something else I love about this symbol.

The moon is cool, calm, and gentle. Even while holding the immense power of the universe, Shiva’s mind remains quiet and still.

A simple reminder for all of us:
life moves in cycles, but the mind can remain peaceful within them.

Meet my favourite chaiwala on Girivalam. No branding. No décor.

Look closely at the big old copper kettle. The little Shiva symbol is watching over every cup.

That sharp smell of ginger, spice, tea and milk rising into the night air.

Chai that wakes you up and settles you down at the same time.

It always feels like a blessing.

I don’t just study goddesses. I do puja.

I sit with them. I invoke. I offer. I listen.

For me, it’s devotion to the full spectrum of feminine power, creation and destruction, tenderness and fire.

And my practice is non dual. The goddess is not separate from consciousness. Puja becomes a way of remembering there has never been two.

This is how tradition lives on.

Young Brahmin boys sitting on the floor, learning puja directly from their teacher. Listening. Repeating. Watching every gesture, every offering, every mantra until it becomes second nature.

No shortcuts. No rush. Just presence and discipline.

There’s something powerful about knowledge being passed this way. Voice to ear. Hand to hand. Heart to heart. Sacred things aren’t downloaded from an app. They’re embodied.

And that kind of learning stays for life.
