Every time I train another Yin teacher, I know I’m impacting what kind of Yin they’ll go on to share with hundreds, perhaps even thousands of people over the course of their teaching life.

That’s has never been a responsibility I take lightly.

Art of Yin graduates have a profound experience of the Yin practice in their own body, which has been transformative for many. Their understanding of rebound is deeply energetic, their functional anatomy knowledge unparalleled and consistently individually-tailored, their capacity to hold space, their grounded bridging of Daoism and depth psychology nothing short of embodied. They leave the training after 6 months minimum of practice and mentorship confident and courageous, having finally released what was blocking access to their own voice in the process.

Cultivating self-directed, independent yoga teachers has been at the heart of The Art of Yin since I first began training 8 years ago. My training remains the longest-running 100hr Functional Yin Yoga teacher training in Ireland (I think maybe Europe and the UK too), and its graduates go on to play a central role in sharing person-centred and individually-tailored yoga with their students and clients in studios and clinics alike.

The next Art of Yin begins this September.
Most of the places have already been filled through in-person Functional Yin Foundations graduates; but I do have a few special places remaining for those embarking on the full 100hrs online.

In the past, this option has tended to suit those unable to travel (and those living abroad). I’m grateful to have more and more students joining from overseas.

If you’ve always had the feeling that there is much more to Yin Yoga than you’ve experienced so far, I think you’re probably right. And I believe you’re in exactly the right place.

Will you claim your voice this Autumn?
Will Yin be the practice that makes a truly great teacher and embodied space-holder out of you? ♥️

I’m fascinated by what happens when we stop trying to do more to the body and instead learn to listen to it.

𝐃𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐅𝐚𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐚 𝐌𝐲𝐨𝐘𝐢𝐧 is a psychosomatic exploration of the Deep Front Line, the psoas and the abdominal fascial network using my signature long-held Yin shapes with integrated myofascial compression. This is not a forced practice, but it asks for staying - and maybe that is another version of the tenacity, grit, or resilience we would like to be enhancing in our lives. Maybe Yin & MyoYin through the 𝐅𝐀𝐓𝐄 method are the practices that allow us to work patiently 𝐛𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞, enhancing our perception as we feel and remould through stillness.

I’ve often found that as our perception becomes more refined, our relationship with ourselves changes too. We begin to notice what was previously hidden; not only physically, but emotionally, psychologically, spiritually. Whether you call that intuition, your inner knowing, or simply becoming a better listener to your own body (which means you first need to become better at feeling), this intersection of body and mind is this territory that guides me in the teaching and the training. Exponential shifts have occurred for people through exploring the body 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐭.

If you’d like to experience it for yourself, join me for this 𝐃𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐅𝐚𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐚 𝐌𝐲𝐨𝐘𝐢𝐧 workshop on 3rd August. And as you’re reading this, if something in you quietly recognises this depth already, there is still time to join this year’s three-day MyoYin & Myofascial Face Therapy Training. There are just a few places remaining, and Stephanie Bruschi and I would be delighted to spend those three days with practitioners who feel genuinely called to explore and work with 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝.

Many ideas float around in my head and yet the energy around them is clear: stop, wait, there’s time yet, and more and more frequently, is this really the place for you to continue sharing and teaching - so generously?

I’ve been writing a few pieces that I’ll share to Substack. I’ve only started exploring it as a space, but ever since my most recent IG break in May/June, it feels like a sustainable alternative to ‘this’ is what many of us are seeking.

It’s been 10 years since I started my business account on Instagram. August 2016. It coincided with my return to Ireland after 3 years travelling and teaching yoga. Most of my growth arose in covid times, when Yin was the collective healing of the nation. It’s still that for many.

I hit 6,000 followers a couple of months ago. I don’t know what that means. Is it good? I’ve a feeling that 6,000 - in 10 years of regularly showing up to share and teach and run multiple free challenges for the community who gathered around - would be considered very slow indeed. But then I never cared about big followings; popularity amongst the masses never really registered as success for me. I’ve always had a soft spot for those misunderstood in their own time. Something of the autistic experience is surely present in that, right?

Anyway; this is me enjoying morning coffee and a pastry with my friend in my garden - that needs weeding again already(they came back!), and I’m really only sharing it as I am writing this afternoon and I thought the algorithm might appreciate it more than my musings the Art of Yin training and my FATE body of work as an epistemology. I will of course share the link to that, because I believe that amongst you are quite a few who are able for it.
And as long as you’re here,
I’m here too 💛

Transition times are hard, but what’s the opportunity within them? Let your somatic practices settle into enhancing your 𝐂 𝐀 𝐏 𝐀 𝐂 𝐈 𝐓 𝐘 instead of desperately seeking calm (Susan 🙂)… in other words, learn to lean in to YIN ❤️

It’s the first Monday of July on the ✨

A month of four Yinto Your PJs ahead (6/13/20/27) starting tonight at 8:30pm GMT. I’ll throw a seated glute forward fold in, but there’s mainly an upper body focus, with options galore .

This month’s MornYin to Yang is on Thursday morning (9th) at 7:15-8am GMT - with hatha for the Yang component.

All classes are recorded and uploaded for members of athe Integration Space to practise in your own time, and as often as you like.

I look forward to seeing you tonight, and maybe Thursday morning too: and stay tuned for book club confirmation very soon - I’ve a great one for us x

Last month I taught Functional Yin Foundations in Belfast Maitri Studio Belfast with a gorgeous group who are well and truly on the Yinside path.
With being off socials I didn’t get the chance to sing their praises - until now ♥️
A truly super group of students, who brought the best questions and discussions to the table, and really leaned into the process of unlearning and feeling into the body’s knowing that Yin & FATE represents ♥️

Thanks to Claire Ferry and Maitri Studio Belfast and Lucie | Yoga Teacher for hosting us and Cathy O’Hagan for helping out so much over the weekend with opening & closing.

I’m so looking forward to continuing the journey through the remaining 70hrs of the training in the autumn with you all,

Enjoy the lovely summer rebound until then … 🙂👏🏼

6 days with 16 students and teachers, learning, practising, teaching, laughing and, perhaps most importantly, unlearning ♥️

At the heart of The Art of Yang is discernment. The discernment to recognise what asks for patience, practice, repetition and strength, and equally, the discernment to recognise what asks for adaptation, creativity and acceptance.

Not every limitation in the body is a problem to solve: The art of wise practice lies in learning where effort belongs, where change is possible, where mobility and strength can be developed, where improved focus can serve to refine a skill, and where the lesson is not perseverance, but acceptance.

For me, a Yang practice (I use the very broad stroke of “movement” to distinguish Yang from Yin in a functional lens) has never simply been about acquiring a ‘deeper expression’ of more shapes. It represents a process of learning to direct effort wisely, to understand what is trainable, what is modifiable over time, and where we are asked to work with the body we have, rather than the body we imagine we should have. To teach Yang functionally is to know how to help e v e r y b o d y experience the physical purpose of the pose 🌀🙂

This is why the principles that underpin Yin remain equally important in Yang. If you’re feeling it, you’re doing it (the functional yin lens) & Teach only what is appropriate to the individual (Krishnamcharya) as the original yoga therapy vision ✨

Over these six days we explored skeletal variation assessment, functional anatomy, a framework of archetypes for Hatha and vinyasa asana, self-practice, functional teaching methodology and verbal cueing, but beneath it all was a quieter conversation unfolding between effort and acceptance, between what can be transformed through devoted practice, and what represents an opportunity to meet ourselves differently.

The Art of Yang is learning where effort belongs. And after a tremendously powerful first 6 days (with the remainder to be completed in September), the effort can take a backseat for these trainees for a while, while the self-practice becomes their personal exploration.

Thanks one and all 🙂

Felt like I hit the jackpot getting off socials for a while but then there’s always this weird feeling to navigate when you’re making some sort of a return, only half heartedly, because ‘visibility’ but also, everything I have to teach has to do with the invisible - so go figure 🤣

While I’m here, and it’s my first Monday morning in a while with Instagram downloaded on my phone, I’ll tell you I’m that I’m really looking forward to Yinto Your PJs tonight, and invite you to join me. It’s on at the normal time of 8:30pm GMT ✨

We are navigating full moon vibes, some of us likely feeling the duality more than others. You know what’s fantastic for that? YIN ♥️ Nothing grounds you like this practice, a few shapes, a few rebounds, a little self-inquiry, a lot of nervous system capacity expansion, a hell of a lot of deep long breaths, and one perfect night’s sleep after it.

You’d nearly call it a recipe. This is how yoga was taught in the very beginning. Back when every individual received their own prescription of yoga medicine, a personal experience of yoga as therapy. It’s profound.

That’s why many people commit to it as their non-negotiable weekly ritual - you deserve 75 minutes of deep body therapy. There isn’t a system in your body-mind that doesn’t feel the benefit of it ♥️

Would love you to see you tonight,
Grace x
