A Montessori teacher is less like the traditional idea of an instructor, and more like a gentle guide.  They don’t consider it their job to give a child information.  They rather lead children in the general direction and give them the tools they need to find the information themselves.

Maple Tree Montessori School (Preschool - Elementary) is an authentic and a complete Montessori School where all subjects are taught with Montessori Method. We use standardized Montessori materials following guidance set by Maria Montessori. "Follow the Child" is our philosophy where "Child Centered" teaching is implemented for each student. This means each student progress is monitored closely and teaching is individualized based on each student progress.

Our school is for children of age 3 - 12 years old. We provide a small school environment and limit our total enrollment to 50 students in the school. We strive to provide quality education and that means keeping our school small and manageable. In Preschool, our teacher student ratio is 1:8 while in Elementary 1:12.

We introduce Fractions to our 6-year-old student. Here, she is drawing and writing fractions down on her workbook. She is using Fraction Skittles, Fraction Circles and Fraction Cards.

Most of our Montessori Elementary materials are imported from Nienhuis Netherland, including Cut-Out Labeled Fraction Circles and Fractions Activity Set 1

We continue having online school starting out our new academic school year 2021-2022. Our online school is from Monday - Friday, 8AM - 2PM. We have daily lessons for students and they study from various materials available, such as from our Online Library for Montessori materials, Virtual Montessori materials and various online learning materials . We also rotate our school Montessori materials among students so they still have Montessori experiece at home.

Our 6-years-old student enjoys working on Geoboard and spending hours working on making various geometric shapes.

Geoboard is Montessori material incorporating many Montessori areas.

In Sensorial, Geoboard is as a way to introduce various geometric shapes.

In Practical Life, it is also an excellent material to practice fine motor movement, hand-eye coordination and muscle control, bilateral coordination (both hands working together). It is also designed to increase the child's ability to concentrate.

In Language, the student also learns tracing words, how to form sentences and get to know more vocabulary.

Our Cubing Material is used to learn advanced Mathematical concepts. Cubing Material is a visual aid to prepare the child for abstract analysis of Cubes and Cube Roots. The material consists of 1 cube and 27 squares for each of the numbers from 1–9, following Montessori traditional hierarchical colours (red for 1, green for 2, pink for 3, etc.). The squares and the cubes are made of solid wood, and all pieces are finished with a satin-touch coating for looks, durability and ease of use by the child. Most of our wooden Montessori materials are imported from Nienhuis, Netherland.

This morning, we have a lesson on the Human Skeleton. After the lesson, students are working in groups to do research on a particular bone and do presentation for the whole class

Our Lower Elementary student is studying at home, working on Prehistoric Animals 3 Part Cards & then drawing and writing down description of one animal

Starting this Term, our students are taking turns to lead our online cooking sessions. This activity teaches them many Montessori values: to share, to take the initiative, to prepare and experiment, to be a leader, to care for classmates, to be patient and to be independent.

This week, one of our Upper Elementary students led the cooking session, he taught his classmates to make his favorite Turbo sandwich.
