*Finishia Pancarani Putri* graduated from sekolahbisa in 2018. She is currently a third-year student at a vocational high school.

As the fifth of seven siblings, Fini has lived primarily with her mother and her other siblings since childhood. Her mother has worked a variety of jobs, including housekeeping and manual labor, to support the family.

Fini also has two younger sisters: Anjani, who graduated from Sekolah Bisa in 2023 and is now a student at SMP N 12 South Tangerang City, and Zevanya, who is in the fourth grade at Sekolah Bisa.

We hope that many children like Fini, despite facing limitations and difficult family circumstances, will remain enthusiastic, dedicated, and persistent in their education. Every child deserves the opportunity to achieve their dreams, like Fini's dream of helping her family escape poverty.

Karna, a 23 year-old deaf and mute, emerged from the challenging environment of Bulakan shanty, a scavenging community. His childhood was marked by adversity, as his parents struggled to make ends meet through his father's ketupat selling while his mother did not work. A former street child, Karna found solace and companionship among the students of the Sekolah Bisa. Recognizing his potential and the challenges he faced, IB CAS at British School Jakarta - BSJ, formerly BIS intervened, rescuing him from a life of hardship and register him in a Deaf school where he finished his primary and secondary. ​​

Graduating from a Deaf school ( SLB Nurasih ) , Karna embarked on a new chapter, guided by the unwavering support of Ibu Rizki, a Sekolah Bisa teacher who became a maternal figure. With extraordinary patience and dedication, she nurtured Karna's skills in sewing and bracelet making. Despite his limitations, Karna's spirit was persistent. His journey exemplifies the power of human resilience and the transformative impact of education and support.

The pictures encapsulates Karna's progress as he diligently works alongside Sekolah Bisa students under Ibu Rizki's mentorship. Their collaborative efforts in crafting bracelets are not merely a vocational activity; they are a pathway to economic independence. By selling these handmade creations at BSJ, Karna aims to augment his family's income and secure a brighter future. His story underscores British School Jakarta - BSJ, formerly BIS and Sekolah Bisa's commitment to empowering marginalized individuals and providing opportunities for those who have been dealt with challenging circumstances.

How can a child who lives in a village of scavenger in Bulakan shanty Pondok Ranji, isolated from the flow of city life, surrounded by rubbish, and swallowed up by urban progress, achieve top regional achievements as one of the informal school students with the best primary exam scores in South Tangerang? Lisa, a student at Sekolah Bisa, whose father works as a scavenger and whose mother died less than a year ago, has the will and motivation to succeed. She realizes that she will not waste the opportunity given by the school, and thanks to the support of teachers and volunteers, Lisa always feels optimistic about achieving her dreams. Today, she is at the South Tangerang event with Pak Irwan, Sekolah Bisa coordinator, to receive a special award for being the best graduate from all informal schools in South Tangerang. Sekolah Bisa consistently strives to support children from marginalized backgrounds to receive the same quality of education.
