CONGRATULATIONS TO SUYEON KIM (Class of 2021) for your excellent IB DP result!

We proudly announce that one of our Class of 2021 graduates, Suyeon Kim, achieved the perfect IB DP score!

Only less than 9% of candidates achieved the IB score of 41-45 and Suyeon came out as one among the top of the top in the world.

This excellent result is surely not obtained in one night; it is a result of hard work, diligence, tenacity, discipline, and good time management.

We also believe that every good and perfect thing come from God (James 1:17) and we praise God for this outstanding achievement.

Today marks the end of the 2020-2021 academic year. This academic year has never been the same as before, we are beyond grateful to see how God has guided us grace by grace through the journey we had in this academic year.

Our teachers had all the pleasure of guiding and teaching the students through the whole semester. For this summer holiday, they remind students to have a safe and responsible holiday. It's amazing to see how the whole community has thrived and flourish this year!

Grade 5 Blackout Poetry 📰💡

Blackout poetry is an opportunity for our learners to deconstruct a page of a book then reconstruct it into a short poem that focuses on a theme. This time, we choose "The Challenges and Successes of Home Learning" as our theme. With this topic in mind, students choose an anchor word and supporting words while eliminating the rest. This is a great enrichment activity for our unit on poetry! It is amazing what our students are able to come up with ☺️

ASCENSION DAY OF JESUS CHRIST

"Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess." (Hebrew 4:14)

Ascension Day teaches us 3 important truths about our Lord Jesus Christ:
- Jesus’s ascension is his heavenly enthronement as King

- The ascended Lord Jesus is our heavenly mediator and high priest

- The ascended Lord Jesus will return as King and Judge

Jesus Christ's Ascension had concluded and completed all of His redemptive work. However, it doesn't mean that He stop working until today. He is our Great Priest who continue to intercede and pray for us. He also has sent the Helper, Holy Spirit, in the heart of all believers. And He will return as King and Judge at the end of time.

In this world, we may struggle, discouraged, and mourn. We see suffering, calamities, and injustice. May these truths remind us once again of whom we believe & encourage us to keep on holding firm to our faith until the day Jesus come back & make everything new.

Class of 2021 Farewell Ceremony 🎓

Last Friday, our Grade 12 students had their farewell ceremony that marked the end of their learning journey here at SPH Kemang Village. We are grateful to God and proud for our graduates as they have thrived and finished their last year of high school life both at home and in hybrid learning.

Our graduates have been accepted to many reputable universities such as New York University, Cornell University, UC Berkeley, University College London, Kings College, UCLA, and many more.

Graduation day is not about where you are but rather where you are going as you transition from one phase of life to another.

In his speech, Mr. Mark Thiessen, the Head of School of SPH Kemang Village, reminded the students of the three most important things that they have to remember:

Seek Truth, Seek Flourishing, and Seek Jesus.

As a school, SPH Kemang Village is committed to giving a positive contribution to this nation and the world through Christian holistic education. We commission our graduates to be agents of change in a broken world and we do so knowing that they are equipped.

Mr. Mark challenged and encouraged graduates to choose to walk a path and to write a story that is not just about themselves, but about their participation in God’s unfolding plan of redemption and restoration.

"We know that, in life, as one journey ends, another inevitably begins. Each phase of your lives will have challenges and joys and the next phase is no different. I charge you to step boldly into your tomorrows knowing that each day brings a fresh opportunity to effect change," said Mr. Mark Thiessen.

What a joy it was for us to see our K3 students in person last Wednesday. All of them are such incredible learners! They have adapted remarkably to a new learning mode. We look forward to one more month with you!

SPH Kemang Village Hybrid Theory of Knowledge (TOK) Exhibition 💻

The TOK Exhibition is an exploration of how the IB’s “Theory of Knowledge” isn’t just an abstract, philosophical subject, but instead lies back of ordinary things we observe and use every day. This time, the TOK Exhibition was done in a hybrid mode, enabling some students to participate from home.

Students brought three objects, either physical or digital images, explained where and how they exist in the real world, and what TOK questions (“how do we know?”) they raise.

For example, "How might a system we use to acquire knowledge (like a textbook, class notes, etc.) affect what and how we know?"
