As a Centre that nurtures teachers and education personnel, has taken this state as a challenge. For the last six years, SEAQiM has conducted several courses, training, workshops, symposiums, and research to address the latest issues in mathematics.

🌏 SEAQiM Successfully Holds the 17th Governing Board Meeting in Surabaya
The SEAMEO QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQiM) successfully held its 17th Governing Board Meeting (GBM) from 15–17 September 2026 at Surabaya Suites Hotel, Surabaya, Indonesia.
The meeting brought together Governing Board Members and representatives from 11 SEAQiM Member Countries, the SEAMEO Secretariat, and partners to discuss SEAQiM’s programmes, achievements, future directions, and opportunities to strengthen regional cooperation in mathematics education.

The meeting was officially opened by Mrs. Suharti, Ph.D., Secretary General of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education of the Republic of Indonesia, who highlighted the importance of numeracy and encouraged SEAQiM to strengthen its role in promoting joyful mathematics learning, STEM, Deep Learning, Computational Thinking, innovation, research, and regional collaboration.

As SEAQiM continues its journey, the spirit of the 17th GBM will carry forward through new programmes, stronger partnerships, meaningful collaboration, and continued service to teachers and education personnel across Southeast Asia.

SDN Keputran 1/332 Surabaya mendapat kesempatan menyambut kunjungan delegasi SEAMEO Regional Centre for Quality Improvement of Teachers and Education Personnel (SEAQIM) in Mathematics pada Kamis, 17 September 2026.
Kunjungan ini menjadi bagian dari rangkaian The 17th Governing Board Meeting SEAQIM, sekaligus menjadi momentum untuk berbagi pengalaman dan melihat secara langsung praktik pembelajaran di lingkungan sekolah.
Dalam kunjungan tersebut, para delegasi mengikuti rangkaian kegiatan berupa observasi pembelajaran, diskusi, serta refleksi bersama. Kegiatan ini juga menjadi ruang untuk memperkenalkan praktik baik yang diterapkan oleh guru dan peserta didik di SDN Keputran 1/332 Surabaya.
Melalui kegiatan ini, diharapkan terjalin pertukaran wawasan dan pengalaman yang dapat mendukung pengembangan kualitas pembelajaran serta memperluas kolaborasi di bidang pendidikan.

Pemerintah Kota Surabaya melalui Dinas Pendidikan mendukung pelaksanaan school visit yang menjadi bagian dari rangkaian The 17th Governing Board Meeting SEAMEO Regional Centre for Quality Improvement of Teachers and Education Personnel (SEAQiM) in Mathematics.
Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada Kamis, 17 September 2026, bertempat di SDN Keputran I/332 Surabaya, dengan rangkaian kegiatan berupa observasi pembelajaran, diskusi, dan refleksi bersama delegasi Governing Board SEAQiM.
Kunjungan tersebut menjadi bagian dari agenda SEAQiM dalam memperkuat pertukaran pengalaman dan praktik pembelajaran melalui kunjungan ke sekolah mitra maupun alumni. Delegasi juga berkesempatan mengamati pembelajaran yang dilakukan oleh guru alumni regular course SEAQiM.
Melalui kegiatan ini, diharapkan terbangun ruang berbagi pengalaman, pengetahuan, dan praktik baik dalam peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran serta pengembangan profesional pendidik.

From Kudus to the Future: SEAQiM Strengthens the STEM Movement!

On 3 September 2026, SEAQiM joined the National STEM Launching: “Berani Mencoba, Kreatif Mencipta” at PAUD Terpadu Kalirejo, Kudus, Central Java—an important milestone in strengthening STEM education across Indonesia. With the presence of Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Prof. Abdul Mu’ti, M.Ed., Director General of Teachers and Education Personnel Prof. Nunuk Suryani, and key education stakeholders, the event echoed a powerful message: STEM learning should be Mudah, Murah, Menggembirakan, Mindful, and Meaningful (5M)—encouraging learners to explore, question, create, and think critically through meaningful experiences.

Represented by Director Dr. Sri Wulandari Danoberoto and Deputy Director for Programme Jatnika Hermawan, Ph.D., SEAQiM reaffirmed its commitment to turning this national momentum into meaningful action. Through the development of STEM+CT and Unplugged Computational Thinking learning materials, alongside strategic collaborations with national and international partners, SEAQiM continues to champion contextual, innovative, and practical approaches to mathematics education. Together, we move beyond teaching formulas—to nurture creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and computational thinking skills for a generation ready to shape the future.

Selama tiga hari ini (26-28 Agustus 2026), SEAQiM berkolaborasi dengan Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika FKIP Universitas Muria Kudus (UMK) menggelar Workshop on Developing Mathematics Learning Media secara virtual!

Dalam workshop intensif 12 JP ini, rekan-rekan mahasiswa UMK diajak untuk level-up skill digital mereka bersama para spesialis SEAQiM. Intip yuk apa saja keseruannya: 💻 Mengeksplorasi Building Digital Activity with Application bersama Bapak Gusnandar Yoga Utama, M.Sc. ⚙️ Mengulik Building Manipulative-Interactive Media with Application bareng Bapak Bungkus Dias Prasetyo, M.Sc. 💡Mematangkan konsep Designing Learning Media Using ICT secara komprehensif.

Tidak cuma teori, para mahasiswa juga langsung praktik bikin media super keren dan interaktif menggunakan GeoGebra dan Desmos! 🤩

From ICT to AI: Redefining the Math Classroom!

After an incredible journey of learning, collaborating, and innovating, the Regular Course on Integrating ICT in Senior High School Mathematics Education 2026 (6–19 August 2026) has officially come to an end!

Officially opened by the Director of SEAQiM, Dr. Sri Wulandari Danoebroto, and guided by our amazing expert facilitators—Mr. Artorn Nokkaew, Ph.D. & Ms. Suparat Chuechote, M.Sc. (Naresuan University), Dr. Lulu Choirun Nisa, S.Si., M.Pd. (UIN Walisongo), and Mr. Rizky, M.Kom. (AMIKOM)—the participants underwent nearly two weeks of intensive academic sessions, mastering everything from dynamic geometry software to AI-driven educational tools!

They then brought their digital magic into real classrooms during the "Real Teaching" at SMA Negeri 3 Yogyakarta, and finally celebrated the beautiful diversity of ASEAN heritage at our spectacular Culture Show!

Our 30 amazing teachers from 6 SEAMEO member countries and across Indonesia have successfully transformed themselves into digital pedagogy pioneers!

When Classroom Has the Potential to become a Laboratory for Educational Transformation: Probolinggo Teachers Explore a New Way of Learning Mathematics Through Lesson Study

What happens when teachers stop being merely recipients of training and become researchers of their own classrooms? On 19 August 2026, Balai Hinggil Kota Probolinggo became a vibrant space for that transformation as SEAQiM, Probolinggo City Education and Culture Office, SEAMOLEC, and CRICED University of Tsukuba, Japan joined forces to strengthen teacher capacity through Lesson Study and Robotics. Guided by Prof. Masami Isoda, Mr. Tanaka, Mr. Nakata, and Mr. Tsuji from University of Tsukuba, 60 primary school teachers, 6 accompanying teachers, and 86 teacher observers explored three powerful learning experiences—from composing and decomposing numbers in Grade 1, measuring and quantity fractions in Grades 3–4, to robotic programming in Grade 6. The programme was officially opened by Mayor of Probolinggo, Dr. H. Aminuddin, Sp.OG. (K), M.Kes., who reflected on the city's educational journey and expressed his hope that this initiative could generate meaningful impact and position Probolinggo as a model for other cities.

The teachers were not simply learning how to teach; they were learning how to see students think, how children construct mathematical ideas, reason through challenges, respond to questions, and develop deeper understanding. Rooted in collaborative reflection and inspired by Japanese approaches to mathematics education, the experience opens a pathway toward a stronger culture of continuous teacher learning, evidence-informed teaching, mathematical thinking, and meaningful technology integration.
