We are very happy, that also this year, the clean up on our Independence Day was another great event. Since many years we try to motivate and to help the villagers to understand more about the plastic problem and to teach the children about garbage. Since we are living now mostly in Denpasar, we are very thankful to our Villa Manuk team, especially Made Karmika, to support this effort and so we still can go on. THANK YOU!
For this special event the Manuksesa Children Project donated 1 Mio IDR for the 1st price (the team collected 163 kg plastic waste), my husband Nyoman Tirtawan and myself 500.000 IDR for the 2nd price (76 kg) and 250.000 IDR for the 3rd price (65 kg).
And now, we are the first time in the NEWSPAPER!! :-).

Maybe you are wondering what actually happens with the children from the Manuksesa Children Project - Bali when they finished their school. From time to time I will inform you about them, today I start with Gede Artayasa:
Gede was born on 19th of October 1993. For his parents the school fee was a burden and thanks to the donations for the Manuksesa Children Project he could go on with his education and he entered 2009 the Senior High School SMA Wirabhakti Sawan where he successful graduated in April 2012.
He started to work for a few days in a Cargo Company in Denpasar when he received the news that there is a position vacant in Villa Manuk, which is located in his home village. Since this time he is working in our eco-lodge and we are happy to have him with us :-)

I am just sorting old notes from the Children project....
last year the kids collected for the yearly festival on the Indonesian Independence Day 362,5 kg plastic waste from the village! That was only for this special event. Minimum once a month the kids going through the street of Manuksesa and clean it up from plastic and also they collect plastic waste at home and bring it to Villa Manuk. There we buy it for 1.000 IDR/kg and bring it together with our garbage to the Official Waste Deponie in Bengkala.
