To take someone for a ride. If you take someone for a ride, you trick or cheat them.

I trusted Ben, but he took me for a ride. He sold me a ticket to the Kanye West show, but in fact it wasn't a real ticket: it was just a photocopy.

Examples:

Examples:

I don't like this new computer - I can't get a handle on the strange keyboard.

To give someone some lip means to speak to someone in a way which is rude and doesn't show respect.

Examples:

That rude young boy gave me some lip when I asked him to stop smoking.

She gave her neighbour some lip because she was in bad mood. Now he wants to move house!
